What's In A Name Contest Judged

Thank you all for your participation! As my first contest, I didn't realize how difficult it would be to judge. My favorites were ones that told me much about the chosen name and kept on theme throughout the entire poem, carrying rhyme or a nice flow. There were some interesting surprises that I wasn't sure where to place. Great job everyone! I know names are very personal, especially when they belong to someone you love and someone you've lost. Now I will peek at who's who so can learn more about you or yours. Keep the ink flowing! Poetic hugs everyone!

It's awesome that you hosted a contest Julia. Every once in awhile you may get an upset email from someone who disagrees with their placement, or lack thereof, but please do not let that dissuade you from continuing to host them if you really did enjoy it.

Never feel bad Juliet. After going back and rereading after a complaint or inquiry, every once in awhile I have thought maybe I should have placed one higher, but not often. Like you said, I have to go with my personal preference on what was submitted.

Thanks, FJ. How did you know? Maybe this happens to others? I couldn't give everyone first, and just because it was third or fourth doesn't mean I didn't like it. It just means that there were some that I liked slightly more. I was going to do 1-5, but then changed my mind and that may have thrown things off a little. Also there were several that I went back and forth on. Thanks for the encouragement. I sure needed that because I'm feeling bad.

thanks for the contest. i really enjoyed doing an acrostic on my name's meaning. I thought it was one of my better poems these past few weeks!

Thanks, Line. I liked reading everyone's poems, but I didn't like the judging part. Some of my favorites I was very certain about, and others I kept going back and forth on. As an afterthought, I realized I should have gone with my first pick on some. There were a lot of interesting choices and some I should have placed higher.

Thanks, Constance. I've always been interested in names. After I meet someone new I sometimes Google their name meaning so I can learn more about them.
