The Venus Project

Imagine a world without any poor,

middle class or richest of the elite anymore.

Imagine a world where your every need,

is provided for you absolutely free.

Imagine a world without any form of currency.

Money is no longer an issue, this is a resource based economy,

whereupon the world's resources are distributed to everybody.

Imagine a world full of machines equipped with the technology,

to perform all the laborious jobs once worked tirelessly and dangerously.

Imagine a world where the only work you do,

is not a job, but whatever you passionately choose,

a world where greater education is open to everyone,

absolutely free, no tuition.

Imagine a world without a single politician,

computers now govern the entire worldwide government.

Imagine a world completely crime free,

there is no need for crime when you're provided all of your needs.

Imagine a world in perfect harmony,

with nature and all of our greatest of technologies.

In only ten years such a world can be attained with the proper steps.

Doug, I am not all that much of an activist, that is until now. The most I have ever been is a relaxed activist, engaging in a political discussion at a bar or maybe post my occasional controversial thoughts on FaceBook. Not really much of an activist, wouldn't you agree? These Powers That Be that I refer to however apparently did see this ordinarily little soft spoken man as a threat, because why then would they have placed me on my government's terrorist watch list? Just because someone or something doesn't demonstrate something that you agree with, doesn't mean that it is or is not unattainable, and yet the PTB apparently see me and every other dissident on that list as a potential threat.

Some of my favorite times are in the afternoon, after any lunch crowd and before the evening people come in; the bartender quietly at work in preparation, perhaps some sun coming in through a window, lighting up dust motes in the air.

BTW, if I haven't already warned you, it is dangerous to associate with me. You can very well end up on this list right alongside me, just because you know me. I am fighting a war that I truly believe I will never win, but the PTB have left me no other option but to continue to fight them. My life is on the line if their plan is ever successful. I am a dead man walking and I don't really want to drag anyone into this nightmare they are putting me through. I'm not trying to blow you off, I'm trying to protect you and yours. Check My Facebook page if you want some real news, but don't comment or like any of my posts. You will only be drawing unwanted attention to yourself.

Whatever facility is there will be re-tasked, or torn down/abandoned." - I can see that scenario playing out Doug, really I sadly can, but most likely it will be caused by The Super Rich and greatly politically influential Powers That Be who feel such a project would be a threat to them if successful, but there is really nothing threatening to anyone in The Venus Project. The wealthy would have a higher standard of living than they do today without bars on the doors, guards, bullet proof car windows and helicopters on the roof to escape. When science and technology are turned toward the benefit of society everyone benefits.

The standard of living would go up for everyone exponentially, and that is not just my opinion, that is from the body of evidence I have studied. I have examined and re examined every aspect of The Venus Project as to what could possibly go wrong. If the Venus Project were to be successful, little if anything could go wrong that couldn't be corrected.

What I see wrong is that it's smoke-and-mirrors. It's blind faith in what a former VP volunteer calls the "Technological Cornucopia" - imaginings of technology doing "everything" for us. VP has not demonstrated that, anywhere.

The only thing I see going wrong is like I said, The Powers That Be will see it as a threat and deal with it in their usual merciless fashion, that, and/or the masses will continue to convince themselves that such an alternate way of life, so much more worth pursuing than what we have now, is not attainable and won't even take the time to check out the site, or visit the facility, or have any correspondence with anyone on The Venus Project team.

I see no indication that the powers-that-be care. Jacque Fresco was a theorist, but for 40+ years the talk has been going on (he was on Larry King in 1976), and there are some models and drawings, but nothing "real," nothing of practical demonstration.

Billy, after doing a good bit of reading about the Venus Project and looking at their website, I'm still in the same place - while there are quite a few things designed to sound good, in reality it's a specious approach, aimed at people predisposed not to reject such. "Imagine a world where your every need, is provided for you absolutely free." Seriously - people, to a huge extent, don't do well under such conditions. Nebulous claims and promises about "science" and "computers" are made, in essence that they will fix all of humanity's ills. Well, that just plain is not true. This is what will happen: Roxanne Meadows and perhaps her heirs/successors will continue, as long as they feel enough money is coming in. At some point, there will not be, and they'll quit running it. Whatever facility is there will be re-tasked, or torn down/abandoned. Sounds harsh, but calling it like I see it.

Not with that attitude Craig my friend, and that's coming from someone who is most definitely not a people person, but I have the rest of my life to pursue this dream and encourage others to follow along. I'm going to give people, a specie I am most ashamed to be around or be part of, my one last shred of faith and hope in them. The key is not to surrender or quit, and to keep perusing that dream, otherwise one thing is for sure. Things will never get better. Things are destined to get a hell of a lot worse. This is worth pursuing, in my opinion.

I don't agree Doug, I would say they would do whatever they passionately choose to do. For instance, I would probably be doing my TNR (Trap, Neuter & Return) thing full time, because I passionately would love to help animals full time.

The "Lost Horizon" utopias will only exist in the dreams of surrealistic writers and the dreams of those like all of us who wish it could be yet it never can. Even the Pilgrims planned on a utopia when first arriving in America but after a year ditched the effort because those too lazy to contribute were taking advantage of those working hard---guess what--nothing new--and never will be.

Funny you should say that Doug, the study of fixed human behavior I believe is a an issue at TVP, I think, but being one who has a passionate interest in all animal behavior (the human animal not withstanding), I don't really need TVP to school me in that area.

Billy, please don't fall for this. The only ones that will profit from it (because it will never happen and they know it) are Fresco and Meadows. It's about one step away from Rev. Jim Jones except they don't desire your commitment to die for them--just your money will do. They are worse than a big corporation because at least corporations produce something--they produce nothing except for an impossible dream that is nothing new and they know that. The Pilgrims thought with their pact, that a utopian new world would exist, but after one year they found it wouldn't work---"perfect" dreams never do--EVER. Your heroes have found one of their suckers and it is sad.

With all due respect Craig, how much research have you done on this project? Have you visited their facility? Corresponded with either party? I assure you my research has been extensive, and I can also assure you that I am nobody's sucker. Believe it or not, I have the ability to be an absolutely brilliant con man, that's just not who or what I am, but I can spot a con or an easy mark from a mile away... it used to be two miles but, you know, age.

Doug, These are all questions that can be directed to The Venus Project Team. I do not have the genius they possess to answer these questions, I do know that the late Jacque Fresco and partner Roxanne Meadows are two of the most brilliant people in the world and have been working and researching this project all their lives. These two would not pursue something like this if it wasn't attainable or doable.

I'm afraid that it boils down to stuff that sounds rather good, but upon real examination isn't practical or possible, given human nature. I'm really not trying to dismiss it out of hand - have to take off driving today, but will look into it more.

Billy, I can only be a "downer" here - utopias have been aimed for before, and the results are usually outright dystopias. I don't think human nature is compatible with "your every need, is provided for you absolutely free." Ain't no way to do that, since to varying degrees we need to struggle and we need to do for ourselves. "Utopia" is of Greek derivation, meaning "not a place." Witness the super-rich, who can now have things provided to them by others, in measures hundreds, thousands of times greater than what the Venus Project is talking about - the rich have problems still. And just how would everybody get the love they need; how would the individual get that one certain person they so desperately desire?

Billy, from the admittedly little that I've read, there is an expectation that "all would be great" because the assumption is that people are essentially mathematical processes or operations, i.e. "If we input this set of things, then the result will be "X" or "Perfection."

This is doable, I'm just not very good at explaining it all, so I just share and hope that they I share with will at least take the time to research this project on their own.

Utopias suggest permanence. This is a society that would always continue to change and evolve. If you aren't going to research their site, you should at least view one of their documentaries.
