Bio: Eve Roper

I grew up in Texas, where I developed a love for art at a very young age.
At twenty-one I moved to a small town in Oregon with my family.
And I opened my own small business creating signs and oil paintings.
At thirty-eight I decided to go back to school
and attended college taking a course in Early Childhood Education.
Upon graduating I started teaching
and worked in the school system for sixteen years
as well as teaching "Prep" in the Catholic Church.
I had to quit work due to health issues and
ten years later I started painting and writing poetry.
My husband passed in August 29, 2018 and
I now reside in Texas with my children and grandchildren.

Nursery Rhymes Book

Blog Posted by Eve Roper: 3/22/2023 1:09:00 AM

I want to thank everyone that has been entering the Nursery Rhyme Contest. I have been very pleased with the turn out. These are all the entries that I have so far collected for the book. If anyone have any question, please soup mail me. I have been working on the book ,slow , but surly it will get done. If anyone want to make corrections on your poems, please let me know.

The book will hopingly be the same as last time, except for the table of contents I will be  placing it in the front. The reason I placed it in the back last time is as the artist point of view, my opinion being in the front of the book took away from the poems, but that is my opinion.. If you want something else let me know.

I wasn't going to place this here, but I just let you know what the book might look like. People seem to like 1 and 9 , ..1 has the lead.

Thank you so much, My Dear Eve. This book, I am sure, would be a huge success too like the first one. Love the cover pages - 1 or 9 - both are great. Feel honoured and humbled for three of my poems getting included. Are you going to include the poems from the contest which just closed? looking forward excitedly to enjoy the beautiful Nursery Rhymes Book! Love and Hugs ~ Mala

1 looks best, Eve, cheerful and contrasting:) thank you for your efforts in creating a wonderful book:) P. S: I have changed my name (to full name), so that there's no issue of copyright, and added punctuation to my "Chubby green worm" poem, changed the title too...

Hi Eve. My 2 cents: I like 1, 9, and 3 best. Those colors seem to coordinate better by my eye...and children typically do like bright colors. I would list the authors by surname in the back of the book in an index, with the ToC of poem titles in the front (as you say you have done in this one).

yes, that's why people are saying 1 and 9 the most often. They just coordinate the best. I think yellow is best because it pops.

Thank you for your comment, Linda. I don't understand aberrations so can you tell me what ToC mean? I've added your preference numbers. I too had picked 9, but I'm not adding it to the list. As I mention below the poets name are in a page for acknowledgment and in the first page giving me permission. I will be sending out a written permission letter with the names of titles for you to sign. I will copy and say for the publishers.

Just an observation, Eve: Would it not make more sense to have the poets' surnames first, then their first names? Also, you might include an index per the titles of the poems (at the back of the book?). I personally like cover no 3. Would you display your ISBN and bar code on the back cover? I enjoyed reading the nursery rhymes, but regrettably it is not a genre that I write in.

Surname is the right way to do it, but since the bottom of the poem copyright is as written, that is what I've done. Also the recognition is in the back of the book and permission & acknowledgement page in the front to the poets are written as in the copyright. Last book I did have the Table of contents in the back, but a had a few that were a little disappointed. And yes, the ISBN and bar code on the back cover. I will also tally your preference of the cover. I've have placed and example form the last book. Thank you so very much for your help
