I recently had one of my poems "Miracles cannot happen" featured as Poem of the day, for which I felt very honoured. The poem itself got a lot of response particularly from Christians for which I wasn't overly surprised. My Contest "Lets start an argument" was started as a vehicle for rebuke or support in poetry form.
Can I just introduce myself, I am a man in my early Sixties from Yorkshire in Northern England. I was actually born in a nursing home where the great Charles Darwin resided during the publication of his controversial masterpiece, "The Origin of the Species"
I have had 5 books published which are available on Amazon Books. Most of my poems are simple, light and uncomplicated verses that are in the main upbeat and joyful, although do occasionally have angst, thought provoking or bittersweet themes. There is lots of humour, silly nonsense, reminiscences, a touch of surreal, perhaps a sprinkling of Irony and dare I say sarcasm. I rarely write Prose and to be honest find this form difficult to read. Prose is often deep and dark, a little pretentious or self-indulgent.
The poem I am most proud of is "The Lost years" a bittersweet story of love and loss. I invite you to visit my website and welcome your feedback in critique or otherwis www.purplepoems.org
