My Bio

What would you like to know?  I’ll cover some of the basics and if you have questions, feel free to ask. Vicki and I have been married for thirty-eight (38) years in August.  I’m a retired school administrator and she continues to serve as a Theatre Arts teacher. We have two (2) adult children who are also teachers and both are happily married. I’m proud to say that everyone holds a Master’s Degree.  We are blessed to have two (2) beautiful granddaughters and do our very best to teach, love and spoil them all at the same time.

Vicki and I live in a country home in Wichita County in North-Central Texas. I spend my time Farming and writing. I consider my first published book to be a great personal accomplishment. As I Recall, is a collection of short narrative essays and poetry that shares memories from my life. Check it out some day.

Final Days

Blog Posted by Ray Dillard: 3/17/2014 5:37:00 PM
I have recently posted a five (5) part series titled "Final Days". This may not be the most appealing poetry ever written, but I encourage you to record your similar life events for future generations. I'm sure many of you have faced similar situations. It's not easy, but these moments need to be captured for future generations. It may be the only contact they have with the ancestor you write about. Your memories give these ancestors substance and value that will be important in the future. Let's not let them be forgotten. I hope the poetry didn't bore you. That was not my intention. I have posted pictures of the Family so that you can see the characters I have written about. Mom had the beauty of Elizabeth Taylor and Dad was fit to look at in his uniforms. She said he was the most polite man she had ever met. You single fellas might want to remember that! I'll take these pictures down in a week or so. I hope you enjoy them. How do you like my first blog?ps- I'm the biggest one until I'm just the oldest. I can still whip the rest of them though! Ha!

Ray , this is a lovely idea. I've been swamped lately and have not even had tiime to see many blogs, but I will certainly take a look soon. I remember the book I read of yours long ago. You are someone with very deep ties to family, something I strongly believe in too!

I'm glad you took the time to read the series. It's just something I had to do!

I just read your poems and was very touched by them. Your words painted vivid pictures of what was going on. It's so hard to watch our loved ones suffer. Looking at old family photos is a great past-time. A few years back my dad, who was a photographer and a photograph restorer, divided up several old family photos of great-grandparents, grandparents, baby pictures etc. between my siblings and I. I love to look back at them. Thank you for sharing your memories with us. Love, Kim
