On The Road to Mexico

Hey all you Soupers....

I'm off on a couple of week road trip through the western states heading back home to Mexico...so I probably won't be on here much and already miss reading your poems.

It is really, really hot here in the desert outside of Arches National Park where I am holed up inside cooling off before a hike this evening....

I spent the last two months going through every cupboard and drawer in my house, emptying everything out, giving things away, selling furniture and packed my van with what I wanted to take with me to Mexico...I hope to sell the house next summer but this was my last year I could drive my van to Mexico so I have it filled to the brim and then some with just enough room for my girlfriend in shotgun and a puppy named Gracie that I am taking down to a girlfriend in Mexico.

Keep up the great writing my friends. I will get on to participate as I am able until I am back home and have unpacked.

Where do you live there? I hear there is an area where many Americans go to retire and I sure wish I could be in that place! (though I'd never drive down there alone!!)

You are probably hearing about Lake Chapala area/Ajijic...it is very popular with retirees. There are many places that people go to retire in Mexico though. I'm in a small village called Melaque about 3 hours south of Puerto Vallarta by car on the west coast. A nice mix of Mexicans and tourists and those who live there full time now number around 500. I am actually traveling with a girlfriend but I have girlfriends that do it alone...I don't think I'd want to. xoxo
