Greetings my friends. I am looking forward to working together with you. I am Prof. Amb. Dr. Joseph. S. Spence Sr., a prolific, worldwide acclaimed award-winning, best-selling poet. I follow my faith and am a World Peace Ambassador of Human Rights, Humanity, and International Diplomacy. My mother taught me how to read, write, interpret, and recite poems in high school, and have uplifted worldwide humanity with inspiration since. Served in poetic leadership positions, conducted seminars, recitals, and assisted poets worldwide to publish the golden words from their crystal inked musing pens. I authored ten uplifting poetry books and numerous peer-reviewed articles. My recent book, “Sincerely Speaking Spiritually,” uplifts and inspires souls to press on and achieve the highest heavenly prize for which ordained. This is the link to my book: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/53256236-sincerely-speaking-spiritually.

I studied English literature, creative writing, African Diaspora, Japanese linguistics, and poetry at the University of Maryland Global Campus, Howard University, and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. During my military service as a decorated U. S. Army officer, I wrote poems for my comrades in arms who named me “Apollo,” Greek god of poetry. Received worldwide awards for my uplifting poems, short stories, and articles. Inducted into various International Scholastic Honor Societies. Governor William Clinton appointed me Goodwill Ambassador for Arkansas, USA.
I look forward to us working together. My residence? Wisconsin!

The following alliterated acrostic poem, sonnet format gives my poetic identity:

Joseph Spence, Sr: Acrostic, Alliteration, Sonnet Poem!

Jumping Jupiter, a jubilant sundae lover, and just a jewel.
Oppressed liberator, optimistically captivating; oratorical.
Saintly passionate, succulent salmon sampler; sweetheart.
Exquisitely enchanting, enchantingly amatorious; éclat.
Playful, painstakingly passionate, pajama wearer, patient.
Handsomely helpful handyman, harmonizer of happiness.

So sensationally super; Sagittarius son of John Spence.
Pleasantly personable, and matriarch Maud Spence’s son.
Enabling, exquisite, eloquent, evolving, and enterprising.
Naturally nice, no-nonsense, and a nutritional nobleman.
Carrot consumer, constant comrade, and cold-war veteran.
Heavenly enlightened, and just an elegant eggnog taster.

Sweet as syrup, shining armor off the shelf; savoir-faire.
Red-blooded poetry connoisseur and radioactively lovable!

Father's Day Reflection

Blog Posted by Joseph Spence Sr: 7/4/2020 5:41:00 AM

Greetings, and "Happy Father's Day," my dear brothers and sisters. I just can't sit and let it go by like that. I have to give tribute to my beloved father (Moses); some called him "Red Shut." I extend my thanks and gratitude for all his nurturing and assistance, which allowed me to be the person I am today and the status I have achieved in life. I missed our rap sessions or pow-wows while eating a sweet mango, and drinking some delicious coconut water to wash it down.

This is my awesome father, The Reverend Kenneth John Spence (Moses), some referred to him as "Red Shirt." He is the humblest person I have ever known. I have never heard him raised his voice at anyone. He takes us swimming on the weekends, taught us how to swim, and prayed before we entered the water. His favorite words were, "Before any great undertaking; one must always invoke the aid of Deity." He wanted to make sure we all came back out of the water alive. We loved him dearly and called him Moses for his leadership and wisdom. He knew practically everyone in the community and have always prayed for them. His ancestry and genealogy hailed from the Celtic land of Scotland (one of the existing seven Celtic nations).

He usually takes us to visit his father. There were times when I could not understand what my grandfather was saying because he had an accent; however, my father understood every word. When my father passed away, one of his brothers, The Reverend Constantine Spence, officiated over the funeral. My mother took care of my father until he received his wings and went home to God's kingdom. She never married again. He predeceased my mother by twenty years. After that, she visited us worldwide at our residence, hung out with us, and took care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

I attend the Highland Games and have spoken with many people who assisted me with ancestral information. I learned about the history of Scotland, the poetry bard Robert Burns, and the seven Celtic nations. I was appointed as the poet-in-residence for the Saint Andrews Scottish Society while studying English Literature, creative writing, the African Diaspora, Japanese linguistics, and poetry at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.

I am also a member of the Robert Burns Club, both organizations consisting of individuals with Scottish ancestry. I have conducted poetry recitals for both organizations. They purchased my books and voted for them to win in several events. "The Awakened One Poetics" won 2nd place in the Critters Writers Workshop 2009 Best Author's Pool. "Trilogy Moments for The Mind, Body, and Soul" also won the best Christian Poetry Award in 2009.

The Celtic Lady's Association calls me when they don't see me, making sure I am okay. We sit together at banquets, talked, and laughed. The Department of Celtic Studies at The University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, always has great words of inspiration for me when they see me. They are really family orientated. I could say a lot more; however, let me say, "I love you, Dad, you were such an awesome father to us. Thank you for the legacy, and rest well in God's kingdom until we meet again."

One of my brother's son (nephew), informed me that based on his ancestral tracing his grandfather came from Ireland (one of the existing Celtic nations). One thing I will always remember from the inspirational counseling from my father, "We don't squabble among ourselves, nor turn our back, we have always been and will be one." My official DNA tracing showed Scotland. So, if you're a Spence living in Scotland or Ireland and see this Father's Day post, please send me a message before you take another sip of that MacLeod Ale and eat your Haggis. "Mar sin leat!"
