My biography will be very limited for now.   Here , I can express myself in poetic form but in real life I much rather prefer to be far less forward  I am a 60 year old American citizen , born and raised in the glorious South! A heritage that I am very proud of and thank God for as it is a blessing indeed ~

Currently married to my beautiful young wife(Riza) a lovely filipina  lady and we have a fantastic 7 year old son, Justin ~

I have truly lived a very wild life as a younger man but now find myself finally very happily settled down for the duration of my life~

I decided to rest here and express myself with hopes that it may in some way help others, for I see here a very diverse  and fine gathering of poets, artists, and caring folks~

Quickly finding friends here that amaze me with such great talent~~

I invite any and all to comment on my writes and send me soup mail to discuss

whatever seems important to them ~

3 poems and a prayer, O' yes from 1973

Blog Posted by Robert Lindley: 7/11/2023 2:18:00 PM

I wrote a bit differently at age 19.. 3 poems and a prayer, O' yes from 1973.

(1.)

On Nights As Quiet As Silent Fern Grows

On nights as quiet as silent fern grows

Within solitude of a heart torn

A chill like a blanket of winter snow

Invades to destroy hopes of the forlorn.

Outside far beyond moon so softly weeps

Yet the heartbroken finds no release

Hours tick away that much needed sleep

Even most sincere prayers bring no peace.

Those sad nights bringing dark unholy hell

Life seeks to deny epic horrors sent

Yet sorrow's great powers are hard to quell

For heart and soul are both torn and spent.

On nights as quiet as silent fern grows

Within solitude of a heart torn

A chill like a blanket of winter snow

Invades to destroy hopes of the forlorn.

Robert J. Lindley, 4-27-1973

A Vision So Breathtaking To Behold

I remember that day as clear as glass

Glistening dew wet upon verdant grass

A true angel stood there smiling at me

I in my hammock under that old elm tree.

A vision so breathtaking to behold

Like fantastic romantic tale well told

Mind asking can this sweet treasure be real

Is this love at first sight that I now feel?

Taking a deep breath and another look

Deeper romantic thoughts began to cook

Tis heaven sent and so meant to be mine

I say I love you, I want to be thine.

I remember that day as clear as glass

Glistening dew wet upon verdant grass

A true angel stood there smiling at me

I in my hammock under that old elm tree.

I remember that day as clear as glass

Glistening dew wet upon verdant grass

A true angel stood there smiling at me

I in my hammock under that old elm tree.

Robert J. Lindley, 4-28-1973

Romanticism,

There Within Twilight's Soft Whispering Breath

There within twilight's soft whispering breath

Resides divine words that can defeat death

Words of hope bathed in Beauty and Light

Treasures as can relieve saddest of plights.

Dare we mortals live our winter choices

Pleading for more with our desperate voices

Mind chanting our deepest of dark sorrows

Living each day, praying for tomorrows.

Our souls steeped in ravaging hot blood

Born to allow our emotions to flood

Prisoners to our passionate resolves

Seeking to our greedy powers evolve.

Should we ever vanquish our darken lusts

Break that stabbing blade that forever thrusts

Only then may we hear that dawning plea

To live and love true, daring to be free.

There within twilight's soft whispering breath

Resides divine words that can defeat death

Words of hope bathed in Beauty and Light

Treasures as can relieve saddest of plights.

These were found in my older brothers attic recently. I guess he had them from when I lived with him for a few months back in the early 1970's. Lucky for me! God bless

absolutely stunning writes ... at 19yrs. The foundations of an intense and sophisticated style for you further in your life journey. And at 19yrs, an intelligent depth of understanding. Thoroughly interesting to me, to glimpse the mind of young Lindley. Thank you for sharing your gift.

Thank you, my dear friend. At that age I had already composed well over a hundred poems. Was indeed searching to form how to compose. Searching for my style in poetry. I was reading and studying the great poets of old. God bless.
