Fish

Fish

The throat is like a trench
reaching the very bottom of the sea.
Deep, dark, and seemingly infinite.
Inhabited by many kinds of creatures;
words swimming on the ocean floor
like fish.

Some reaching incredible sizes,
while still managing to stay hidden.
Guarded by the depths.
Captured by the shadows.
The ones that can never see the surface.

 Others small,
almost insignificant.
Yet they break the surface and leap towards us.
Familiar with the wind.
Friends with the outside world.
They are the ones so close to the sun.
