Wings Beating Against the Glass

Wings Beating Against the Glass

He said you pick up birds
You bandage wings
Not something I wanted to hear
I did not heed the danger
I did not prepare for the truth
Once the wing is mended
They fly away from you
Back into the queue
That ripped those wings apart
And curse you, then
For not being able
To stop them
From flying free
To damage themselves
Once again
Wings beating against the glass
Trying desperately
To gain entrance
When the storm turns darker
But all the doors are barred
And windows locked
The physician, weary, sleeps
And can’t no longer hear
The cries above the thunder
Still every night
She says a prayer
For the bird with the broken wing

Great allegory. Irony abounds in this haunting aesthetic verse. Thanks for sharing................peace!
