Toxcicity

I deserve it at this point,
I see it coming every time.
I know your promises are hollow,
And your love riddled with lies.

I’ve stayed this long just hoping
(that) maybe one day things could change.
Despite repeating cycles,
Foolishly, I choose to stay.

Why you ask? I I have no clue.
I know just what this is.
The same old things, a different day.
My anxiety as bad as his.

We wake up every morning
And brace ourselves for war.
Each other’s hearts we’ll break,
And leave each other hurting more.

What is it that you see in me?
Do you really even know?
With friction you’ll forget
all that you loved so long ago.

I’m in love with your memory,
the ghost of you, it haunts my soul.
But are we truly dead?
Or are we both still wonderful?

It’s painful now to sift –
(to) try and see the right from wrong.
Are you this horrid monster?
(or) were you my soulmate all along?
