The Trail

rain falls gently
while strolling beneath the trees
hands enclosed
as branches sway slowly
not in a rush
just walking with ease
magnolia perfumes the breeze
that chills our bodies unexpectedly
as we search for the warmth of summer days
captured in each other’s gaze
intensely staring
at a rainbow
that appears from behind the clouds
stopping abruptly for an embrace
cheek to cheek
nose to cheek
lips to cheek
lips to lips
still moving with ease
not bothered by the gentle rain
or the chilled breeze
finding the warmth of a sunny day
intoxicated by the heady scent of magnolias
while the branches continue to sway
