The Butterfly

The butterfly flies deep
Beneath the surface,
But never revealed,
It twists and
Pushes up like
Wet fire

Burning as it recedes,
Twisting from your grasp
But never gone
Never diminished.

The butterfly never fades.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.

For me the butterfly stands for my innermost living fire, my heart. Your butterfly is perhaps something different, but still as strongly present as mine. Welcome to PoetrySoup with this beautiful first poem.

I've not really considered the death of the butterfly. Your abstract piece is interest; butterflies always attract attention.
