Memory of Strangers

Innocence smiled in the mirror
But you turned away
Your words laced in cold tears
Linger behind perfumed walls
Ghost-like faces stuck between the sheets
You take the money
Than hide in your pain
A memory of strangers
Whiskey breath
A whisper
Loving you without loving
Carelessly bruised
You weather in loneliness
Than give yourself away
For the day
For the night
For the rest of your life

A warm welcome to PoetrySoup I offer to you this morning Abby. I am sorry to be late welcoming you. I wish for you the best in your writing endeavors whatever they may be. May you find inspiration by reading some of the poetry written here by other poets. Read and comment on their's and they will return in kind. May the sun shine on you that you might find great joy in your life. Love and blessing always, Carol
