Mortality

I am terrified of death.
The question of what
happens to us when we die
haunts me.
I always thought
that believing in life after
death was foolish and illogical,
just a lie
perpetuated by religious
institutions in an attempt
to indoctrinate us.
But I suddenly find myself
looking for reasons to believe
that this isn’t all there is;
That we can’t possibly
just disappear and become
nothing but dust.
Life is moving faster,
the years are slipping
away quickly and my
mortality is an ever-growing
presence, looming over me,
sending me searching
for an answer that I will never
find.

Look around you! Everything that "dies" simply becomes something else, or part of an whole! Learn as much as you can about life to be better prepared for what ever happens next! Aloha!

Great poem Katie and very relatable…I think as we age thoughts of mortality are inevitable. Debx

I hope you do find answers, Katie. I came to faith very late in life. I find great solace in reading scripture, but also in learning about the miracles at work inside our cells. Both give me hope and peace.
