Fall
The tree does not choose
Where it’s seed is planted
It’s mother does not share fruit
Nor give tender care
The tree does not grow open
But rather sprouts from out of the ground
The tree does not surrender to the stomping feet in soil
But it grows from the tender ground
Though it may lose its color
The tree will stand
It cannot collapse
For it trusts that its roots won’t let go
The value of the tree is not the size of the seed
Nor the weeds that steal from it
But rather if it reaches high out
Reaching past the window
That it looked up to everyday
They do not choose to grow
But we do everyday
