The Eternal Question: God, No God, Maybe God

The Eternal Question: God, No God, Maybe God
				By Tarian Marks

I had a thought about if God didn't exist
What if man alone was responsible for these temptations that we couldn't resist?
What if our own ideas alone conceived buildings, technology, and rivers?
What if we were responsible for creating the sweat from warmth and the cold that makes us shiver?
What if we made trees sway, wind blow, gems glow, and bees crave
That sweet nectar from the flowers we grew,
Then secrete the sweet mist of honey dew
Would that mean there would never be a war to fight?
No cycle of day and night?
No presence of evil or even the concept itself?
No death, no urns on the shelf,
No cemeteries, no hospitals, no jails to house the least of these?
Would we even need a boat, couldn’t we just run across seas?

If there were no God, wouldn’t that mean that the nature of humans would be perfect?

I ponder these questions, but I can’t ignore the feeling of His presence
I can’t forget being saved from car collisions, paralysis, and enough concussions to become lettuce
I know what has been taken and I’ve grieved
But I also know what’s been given when I believed
So it’ll never be suspended
Because the world would be upended
I pray my heart is not displaced
So for those questions, I repented
Just in case…
