Tell It Like It Is

So I am supposed to be this ray of light, the one with the brilliant upon brilliant idea
The one with the cute memes and gifs
I am the one who always bounces who always smiles and yet
I am the one who loves you when it flies in the face of all reason
I am the one who stands by the window waiting for you when I know there’s
No white horse
When I know that given the opportunity to sally forth you’re going to stand and wait and
Refuse to tell me why
To look me in the eyes
And I’m going to be looking out that window for you when the light breaks
In the morning
I’ll never believe you aren’t coming
I’ll never give up because
Even though you won’t step up to a love story you helped create
I can’t step away
It has become a fabric of who I am and I’m not sure torn apart from it
There is enough of me left to survive on its own
You want to ignore something because it’s inconvenient
Even though you helped bring it to life and now thanks to a twist of fate
you have a good reason to
Walk away
Watch it die
And it will and I will with it, staring out the window at the moon
Still believing you are looking at the same one-
Yea--
Tonight there is no bounce no brilliant upon brilliant idea brilliant enough to save me
Yes
I moved here for the sand and the surf and the seagulls and the healing of every breeze off the ocean
But I would have stayed in a moment to be with you
I would leave here tomorrow if you would live with me if you would love me
If ---
But as it is the ocean is the sanctuary preventing me from being ten minutes away
And yet a lifetime apart
From watching you live a life with somebody else
With my hand against the glass
Tonight I am in my tower
Waiting for the white horse never mounted
And I no longer believe-
