Beyond the Grave
Hamlet Claudius regret woe
Tricked by feminie wiles and guile
My dear brother woefully departed
To the flame and ash not of this plane
Where do his sins be purged
Though not his soul be unscourged.
At his sudden passing dear Hamlet started,
A poor fool though wholeheartedly
Virtuous, as he does so obviously scorn my wife’s nuptials.
How I have come to regret my choice of action...
Had I known what fate awaits…
Those bright, pearly closed gates
Upon my arrival shut steadfast
A bloody crown not even my own,
Frail shadows wreathing my neck
Like fists of iron they twist,
Wringing my heart dry
Until not even the crows would dare pick at the remnants.
Greed settled in my heart like a worm,
Eating away at any trace of morality
As the serpent slithered into the garden,
Tainting me with its centrality.
Oh, if only I had known…
I regret my choice of action.
