On My Own

On My Own

On My Own

I caught a glimmer of fate in your eyes and you looked away

Then looked past me like you had no choice but to exit this demention

Never once did you consider me always there waiting to catch you

You walked along the edge of your life seemingly with no regrets Confident with your intention

But you questioned why I ran away couldn't stay

Why I didn't wait only to say one more time good-bye...

And looking back on that time so long ago

It seems that I was not the only one of us to take flight

Loving you had taught me well how to detatch to disengage

You pushed me down the road of freedom towards independence

Because you knew even then

Still even dead you're unable to completly stay away

Seems like your hiding out in the deepest corners of my room

Coming in through the darkness of my imaginatation to comfort me

To remind me of who I used to be

The way I looked seen through your eyes

I'll never look that good again

That golden haired girl who captivated you doesn't exist anymore

She's buried with your body slowly turning into ash and dust

Now as I stand here on my own

Trying to light this torch I once carried for you

Your ghost still haunts me

and

I cherish this pain which taunts me

And

I hate myself a little more

For being unable to save you

From your self
