The Reason Why
The words baby and love roll off your beautiful tongue
like I’m smoking a sweet cigar.
You tell me you love me and how much you care
but in the morning
how much of it is true?
You tell me how pretty I am as you undress me and
wash my back in the shower after we made love for hours,
or was it just screwing?
You wrote me pretty notes and told me everything will be okay
but how much of it is actually okay?
You left me with so many unanswered questions.
So many things I could say or do but the first order of my business is to say that
I miss you.
I could give you a solution or I could just be there for you in the way no one ever has
because of how much I understand.
I’m not like others, you see.
I’ll love you so helplessly and
when you want to leave
That is okay because I gave you all of me and you left with it all
So in the end I’ll pick up the pieces of my heart that you shattered
and threw to the ground
because in the end the only person there for me, is me.
And that’s the only person I’ll ever choose because to you I am a warm body,
But according to me I am
understanding and I am loving
but ultimately; I am not enough because I’m just a stop in your journey
Your very beautiful journey because unlike me you will get to where you are going
you will get there.
And I will be here, waiting in the mess I call life
where the only reason I’m even still alive has 4 paws and greets me when I walk in the door.
There is my reason to continue on but you,
and only you will ever know about this because you are the song that leaves my tongue.
And you will always have a piece of me that no one ever will
as I am your pit stop,
to moving on.
