Chimera
Two hearts in one;
The fervid, the furtive—
I was molded into multiplicity.
I was forged from fire (from fear, from feathers.)
They beat with rage.
They beat with harmony.
In the mirror, I see two women—
One woman, divided, or
Maybe the division is unity.
Parts exist to create a whole.
I was born from fire and fear and feathers.
I was split-down the middle and stitched back again.
I will be split again;
From my parts, I will become whole.
I am each one of my fragments—
A chimera of a woman. Parts reconstructed.
From my shards, I will come back:
I will be fire and fear and feathers.
