Homeless Man

You see the man in tattered rags,
He asks for some spare cash.
You look at him in pure disgust,
As if you “know” he’s trash.
Have you ever thought to wonder,
Why he’s standing there?
Or would you rather stop and laugh,
Because you don’t really care.
What if this man went to war,
To fight for all your rights.
And had to watch fellow soldiers fall,
On those dark and brutal nights.
Or perhaps he has a child,
Trying to leer off Death.
Wouldn’t you give up everything?
Including your own breath.
So, go ahead and pass him by,
As if you didn’t see.
But in the end, he’ll be in Heaven.
Is that where you will be?
