The Monster Lurking

1 hour, ten days, 6 years, survive,
another child wishing their mother's life.
hair, laughs, smiles, personality gone
scarce talked about by those whose family it is cast on.
mimicing light, mimicing day.
no wonder the sleep starts to stray.
okay, mircales in this house please
oh lord, watch me beg on my knees
lambs blood left on the door
hope, tears running amongst the floor.
hours spent not quite right,
oh child, turn out the light.
i am scared of the mosnter lurking under my bed,
but i am scared lifeless of the words left unsaid.
oh cancer you have nearly beaten my body to a statue of coal,
but you will never, never have my soul.
