The Joys of Little Boys

Balloons that pop, ice cream that melts,
A bike with a flat, can't find his belt.
One shoe untied, teeth aren't brushed,
finishing breakfast, always feeling rushed.
Toys on the floor, bed not made,
Playing in the rain, hiding in the shade.
Watching cartoons, always being bored,
Always wanting to eat, never doing chores.
Playing football, basketball and soccer,
Doctors, dentists and a non stop talker,
Missing the days he was in a walker.
Now a messy room and a bad attitude,
Ignoring everyone and being rude.
A fireball with smarts and wit,
And most of the time, doesn't know when to quit!

Warm Words

The words flow like a calming river,
As you read them, they make you shiver,
They blow like wind through the trees,
Reading on makes you weak in the knees,
Glowing in the sky like stars at night,
Shinning like the sun that is so bright,
Smooth as silk and soft like a cloud,
Read them in your head or read them out loud,
They bring smiles and they bring tears,
Remembering happiness and forgetting the fears,
Even though they can be hurtful like an arrow through the heart,
It's what keeps things together and from falling apart.

Small Treasure

His kiss will brighten your day,
First thing as you continue to lay,
Still rubbing the night from your eyes,
Trying to wake up is the usual reply,
Blue piercing magic is how he sees the world,
As he runs, jumps, twists and twirls,
Turning the storm into clear skies,
Living everyday life on such a high,
Not a mean bone in his body,
Even when he is being naughty,
Full of energy, nothing stands in his way,
School, sports, and always wanting to play,
It's okay you can rest and take it easy,
Not possible even when it's freezing,
Such a sweet twinkle the boy is,
And as always you return his kiss.

Day In and Day Out

He says there is a monster under there,
He usually has gum in his hair.
Lego's are all over the floor,
then he runs upstairs and slams the door.
I am hungry every half an hour,
turn the lights off, you're wasting power.
Please feed your cat and dog,
mom and dad's head is in a fog.
Please brush your teeth and tie your shoes,
pretty much a battle we are going to lose.
Almost time for bed and ending the day,
put your head where you wanna lay.
Tomorrow we will do it again,
the crazy times never end!

Being Real In a Fake World

Is it his smile or his brown eyes,
could it be his voice or how hard he tries?
Is it his laugh or how he talks,
could it be his cry or the way he walks?
He is loud and intense, real and true,
to most it's to much not knowing what to do.
A heart of gold, his emotions on his sleeve,
a lot walk in, but they all turn and leave.
Bite your tongue, and be a phony,
just be yourself is all bologna.
People come and go all the time,
not to worry, things will be fine.
He doesn't need anyone, he is strong all alone,
just don't expect him to pick up the phone.
He has everything and everyone he needs,
it's to late for the rest, even if they beg and plead.

Colors

Red is his favorite one of all,
Brown because it reminds him of fall.
Blue is the color of the sky,
White makes it feel like he can fly.
Green of the trees that blow in the wind,
Black of the roads that never seem to end.
Orange is so bright and happy,
Gray might make anyone snappy.
Purple maybe a bit scary in cases,
Yellow pretty hot and warm in places.
Pink can be exciting and wild,
But it all goes back to red for the child.

Endless Fight

You must walk across the fire,
to reach what you dream for.
And yes you will get tired,
but it will make you want it more.

You feel you're running in circles
and the battle is to hard,
wishing for a miracle,
but you have already come so far.
