The Most Beautiful Flowers

Delicate are the ones with their ever so soft petals.
Drawn with amazing hues of pink, red, and blue.
For some are embodied in their protective nettles.
They are covered each morning with the dawn’s dew.
They are the ones the bumblebees fly to.
Some believe they are filled with magical powers.
The powers that bring things to anew.
For they are the most beautiful flowers.

When the day of the sun starts to settle,
The beautiful flowers gently lay in blue.
Sad that the sun has closed its petals,
But needing rest and peacefulness too.
So they lie in wait wondering what to do.
For the calm of night will interrupt with showers.
Gentle rain to replenish and make them new.
For they are the most beautiful flowers.

They arise in the morning with renewed mettle.
They bent at the tips for when the wind blew.
But no flower is lost in a puddle of petals.
Strong they stand and stable and erect, too.
Bountifulness in courage they never knew.
For they stand tall in their finest hour.
Brightly painted in many hues.
For they are the most beautiful flowers.

The sun shines radiantly and brings the morning dew.
They have proven they have gifted powers.
Ready to be picked by me and you.
For they are the most beautiful flowers.

Devoted To You

Take a breath in, let it out.
No need to worry what it’s about.
My heart is open for you to love.
Where that came from there is more of.

Grabbing for your hand as we walk side by side,
For your enduring affection I will abide by.
True love pegs me by surprise.
I catch you gleaming into my eyes.

Your gentle touch caresses my soul.
The move you make next is quite bold.
Catching my breath as the world spins,
Not always knowing what I’ve gotten in.

But with you I am one with in every way.
So in love are we from the very first day.
Laughter and tears we will always share.
You are beautiful and kind and I know you care.

Whispering words of reassurance in my ear.
For no more will I ever live in fear.
You made me whole and brought me to living.
You aren’t a taker, just a man of giving.

Grateful am I for you in my life.
Letting go of the demons and strife.
Living in harmony and challenging times, too.
I know that I will always be devoted to you.

No Longer the Motherless Daughter

Today’s the day they bury the woman who birthed me.
Not my mother.
There is no sadness in my thoughts.
No tugging at the heart.
The tender bond between a mother and daughter we did not share.
She was merely a woman in the world of billions who chose life over abortion only to give me torment and agony during the life we breathed in air together.
I will not miss her. I will not cry over her. I will not give credit to her.
This woman never loved me. Never consoled me. Never gave me the warm hugs a little girl needs to have. Never kissed my forehead in loving affection. Or told me I was beautiful inside and out.
She never encouraged my dreams, my goals, my aspirations.
She never instilled confidence that every little girl needs to survive in this cruel world.
She never taught me the essentials of being a woman as I emerged into one.
She never said, “I love you” gently into my ears.
She didn’t protect me from the devil, who night after night, raped and tortured me.
I was the enemy. The one who invaded her sacred vow to my father. The other woman I will always be. Not the daughter she was blessed with.
I clawed my way out of the hole she so viciously threw me down in. I let go of the victim and embraced the survivor.
She can never hurt me again. Never pour salt in the wound. Never hurt my daughter as she wounded me.
Somehow I was given the grace to shower my daughter with love and affection. I pour my love all over her. I console her when she is sad. I embrace her with hugs. I kiss her forehead with loving affection. I tell her how brilliant and beautiful she is inside and out.
I encourage her dreams and goals in life and push her towards her aspirations.
I have made sure she has confidence that will get her through challenges in her life.
I have taught her how blessed she is to be the young, emerging woman she is becoming. I have taught her to embrace her body, her mind, her soul.
I tell her every day how much I love and adore her and how much I am blessed she is mine to keep.
I protect her. But also allow her to fall so she can learn to pick herself up.
I let her know she is my everything and my life with her is an adventure.
I am blessed beyond all treasures.
I am nothing like the woman who birthed me. We only share DNA.
I will forever be a motherless daughter. But I will not be a daughterless mother.

Woman of Desire

Sitting by the cozy fire
Waiting for my love to show
She is everything my heart desires

Not sure of the embellished mire
The rain goes away with the snow
Hiding the thorny brier

Hymns being song by a choir
Busy people travel to and fro
As I write to her on quire

My yearning for her is dire
And my love for her flows
I am trapped in mire

I watch the blaze of the fire
Burn on heat so low
Letting her know of my desire

Taking in the word of the sire
As he tells me of stories long ago
For him I shall duly hire
To bring my woman of desire

Raising Our Children In Our World Today

For those first few months they only sleep, eat, and play.
Watching them slumber as the times passes hours.
Wanting to snuggle them throughout the day.
Love and affection we constantly shower.
Hoping they can feel our strength and power.
Asking for good health and happiness as we pray.
Wanting to slow down the passing hours.
Raising our children in our world today.

Teenage years are unbearable at times.
Constant worrying of what they do.
Sorting through their messages in their chimes.
Wondering if they are happy or angry at you.
Hands in the air not sure what to do.
But adolescent years are also fun to play.
As they grow into their independence and confidence, too.
Raising our children in our world today.

Adulthood is challenging and rewarding at best.
Maintaining sanity in work and human connections.
Being put through many demanding tests.
Sharing their deepest and heartfelt affections.
Wondering if they are mirroring their reflections.
Watching their own children and what they say.
Dotting all the dots and making the connections.
Raising our children in our world today.

It’s a tough world we mingle in now.
Raising our children to make their own way.
Wondering if they will ever learn how.
Raising our children in our world today.

A Life Lived Is a Life Loved By You

A life lived is a life loved by you.
Always saying to be and to do.
Be courageous and strong.
Be happy in a life that’s long.
Long with days of joy.
For every girl and boy.
Teaching, encouraging, generous, and kind.
Growing great wisdom in a youth’s young mind.
You taught me well and showed me to be brave.
Those memories tucked in my heart forever to be saved.
Memories of laughter, love, and generosity.
Teaching me greatness and humility.
Words of encouragement and kindness from your heart.
Reminding me I cannot finish anything without a start.
Forever in my heart you will be.
Memories in my mind I will always see.
So many things to say, so much I can’t do.
But I’ll always remember a life lived is a life loved by you.

The Mirror

Life risen in hues of blue.
Look in the mirror; is that you?
Staring back at that beautiful face?
It’s now in its stable and proper place.
Glowing. Graceful. Can it be?
That self that looks just like me?
No more fears to hold me down.
Love is abundantly all around.
The curse lifted from its grasp.
No longer holding me in its clasp.
Live in the moment and set me free.
Be everything I can possibly be.
No more barriers to hold on to.
So much to see, so much to do.
Happiness surrounds me all in glory.
Waiting to be written in a story.
A book of trouble and triumph prevails.
Like a lost ship in the ocean to sail.
It’s found me in a puddle of water.
Never again will I falter.
Live for the moment and let it go.
For all who love me will always know.
I have beaten the spell and won a war.
Contentment prevails forever more.
