Mymom

My mom
one of six daughters
a wild one not easily tricked
or oppressed
if she hears no she says what who and why
she makes noise when expected to be silent
the black sheep of the family
fire and fury in her veins
a rebel
ready to protect
Her beautiful voice
she can sing
I know because her
song beats in my memory
She can cook too
memorable french fries her grandchildren boast
fluffy mashed potatoes only a few granddaughters can replicate
Fried chicken not sure if this recipe was passed down
and the homemade tortillas mm mm good a necessity but a treat for us kids
so much more
but for me my mom gave me the gift of faith
My mom unique and my one only true Love.

So This Is How It Is

So this is how it is for me
no longer young
and yet not too old
I lived a life
married more than once
Mother to 3 boys and 1 girl
grandma to 1
worked most of my life
struggled with my own self identity
don't have much to show for
all these years, living but not living
I know to much to pretend
life is going to be good
I'm looking at
a life of lonliness
I'm looking at a
life that might not be so good
yet i appreciate the little things
yes i do
it don't take much to make me smile
humility is at my doorstep
at last i'm not too old to
appreciate what i have to work with
appreciate that i need to give a little more
appreciate that life ain't fair and i'm not that special
so thats how it is for me

Silent Goodbye

Is this our final
Goodbye?
You closed the door
to a welcome mat at the door
I knocked hard
I rang the bell a couple of times
dogs barking confused
I pace and then sit in my car
I pause and think
This must be our Goodbye
without words without hugs without tears
you are an adult and have made your choice
no meddling
no fussing
so you closed the door
this must be our Goodbye

In a Second You Were Gone

In a second gone,
all the life you had
gone
all the thoughts
all the hopes
all the dreams
all the love
gone
In one tiny second gone
what is missed
all the thoughts that brought out the best or not so good
what we saw in your eyes the glee the sparkle that gave us hope
what is missed are your dreams
what we miss most of all is the love you carried for us all
In one second you were forgiven
in one second you were appreciated all your faults forgotten
in one second you were honored for all that you gave
in one second gone
how can that be
in one tiny second gone forevermore, who loved you unconditionally memories live and breath forevermore

Yes You I Loved

You I Loved
or should I say
Love
because even though
the years have passed
there is a bond
that will never be
broken
Many years have passed
the mirror is shattered scattered into the future
that will never be shared or cherished
the shards stained with tears and heartbreak
walked over to be forgotten
yet a splinter will gently remind the soul
you once had a love an undying
soul wrenching love that was real or so creatively invented
that you can at least say
I loved deeply and true
Yes You I Loved...

Hell Today

In my head
I make my life
Hell
the silent stabs of doubt
pierce my soul
the cold lonely thoughts embark
heavy on my shoulders
head down shoulders shrugged
heavy heart
my hell my cell my life
I create in my head
no one allowed in
to witness
my hell

The Wound of You

No a cutter
no
scars yes
self inflicted indirectly
addicted to the cycle
of made up rejection
back streaked
from lies believed
breastplate deflated
promises almost kept
just another ride
to end with my stomach in my throat
eyes stretched and slightly burnt from
betrayals made in dark and tight spots
The wound of you
carried deep
stitched tight
The wound of you

i

Burn Pics

Teenage love
little girl thinking
first betrayal that felt enough to give a
burned a pile of pics
in a ceremonial teenage way
I took the bottle of pills that I had been saving for such a day
i closed the door to my room
i took the pills with a glass of water
i laid down on my bed and waited
the firs uncomfortable feelings came from my the pit of my stomach
i felt dizzy i slipped into darkness
days later woke up sick as hell
i had to crawl to the restroom
i could not walk
no one there to ask whats wrong
i was not in the hospital
i was going to have to face it myself

My Mom said she was afraid to go into my room because she didn't want to find me dead. How caring, what about trying to save me... she didn't she would be passive and let me face my concequences, not to be mentioned or question again.
face it you are alone.............

Brothers

Topic
Brother
A special
the baby brother
the start
Tiny and beautiful
moms attention
eyes on him
cries, smiles, laughs
energy in boundless
what a joy to have this
Brother
Little Brother
Baby Brother forever
decades later
a story told to a sister
words from a heartbroken older brother
Man i love him but whats happening now is breaking my heart
Oh yea i Say , he has broken my heart a million times and yes we still love him
our baby brother
so i ask what is so special about him that this is the first time he broke your heart
Baby Brother never disrespected me
Wow I say tell me something of this relationship
Well he said
I was his big brother, he was my little brother
He looked up to me, he followed me i mean ran behind me when i would go to practice, My older brother was athletic, he played all sports, not sure why baby brother did not follow suit. Now i know where he learned to box, older brother
now i know why he can run fast chasing his older brother, love for bicycles older brother, love for cars older brother.
Older brother left for the Army and baby brother met adolescent life alone
got into a world of bad
so now we have this
lots and lots of love but lots and lots of pain.
if only little brother went on to the Military
if only he didn't replace big brother for brother in law
things would be different
I'm sorry so sorry
what can i do now to fix
nothing this is my consequence my families burden now
do i have to take the blame
I did not know better....

At the Foot of Your Word

I found myself
at the
foot of your Word
The Lords Prayer

I closed my eyes
bowed my head
and put my soul to rest
on your word
The Lords Prayer

I looked up to the sky
and felt my heart soar
thankful for the faith
and Grace
The Lords Prayer

I don't ask for riches
I don't ask for favors
that is not my intent
The Lords Prayer
is my anchor
my refuge
a reminder
there is more to this world
The Lords Prayer
