Silent Goodbye

Is this our final
Goodbye?
You closed the door
to a welcome mat at the door
I knocked hard
I rang the bell a couple of times
dogs barking confused
I pace and then sit in my car
I pause and think
This must be our Goodbye
without words without hugs without tears
you are an adult and have made your choice
no meddling
no fussing
so you closed the door
this must be our Goodbye

It is like breaking up without closure. It is so painful. I could feel your words, Sally. It's a very emotional poem.
