Tahoe

The clouds above
Reflect on your waters.
On your rough shore
Walk mothers and daughters.

Indians roamed here,
In distant past.
Their burials are near
Spread across lands vast.

Your waters, cold and clear
Softly caressing the sand.
In the light you sparkle
like diamonds on the hand.

Jealous others are,
As they pale to you.
Your beauty and grace
In your deep, hue of blue.

The Spring Mood

As spring leaps forward expectedly
Cardinals sing a familiar song;
Announcing birth of season’s new
Perched in trees where they belong.

Hyacinths bloom graciously
Expressing their blue sincerely;
Coloring fields that once were white
They only visit once a yearly.

Spots of snow melt slowly
Revealing peridot grass underneath.
Drenched sod cold and wet
Scents the air with raw heath.

Children play rambunctiously
Exploring blooming fields in awe
Seeing colors that never were
They can't seem to process it all.

Cool winds cresses the skin
For there is still a vacant space;
Arms of affairs that held so tight
No longer here to embrace.

As spring leaps forward expectedly
Hearts begins to blush,
And blossom for coming affairs
Making the soul ever lush.

San Francisco

Many come to live out their dreams
In the city of the golden gate.
Here the people are bright
And always calm in state.

Many fade into each other
As blending paint colors do.
Very few stand out so clear
With ideas so fresh and new.

Tradition shape the city
With historic houses abound;
Owners waive their colored flags
Begging for change to come around.

Smells of chilies dance in the air
Flowing through the Mission.
People work long hours while
dreaming of their ambition.

Fame, fortune and opportunity;
The dream is they want.
To walk down Market street
Dressed in names to flaunt.

For them life won't change
A new world has come in stride.
A modern place where many hope
But has many in divide.

Techies and everyone else,
The upper echelon is the former.
They push life into screens
So time can be cut by a quarter.

Among buildings of age are
The glittering glass towers.
A menagerie of architecture
Built by men of great power.

Creation and innovation occurs
Behind the gleaming glass walls.
Ideas flow as people do
Through these intrepid halls.

Life is moving forward
To a new progressive realm;
Only those who can code
Will be seated at the helm.

Others will fade away
Standing on a side of a chasm.
Movement coming so quickly
They won't be able to fathom.

What will the future be
In the city by the bay?
Will many come to live their dreams
Or will they be pushed away?

Cuzco

High in the Andes
Under blankets of cloud
There is God’s kingdom
Where tourist crowd.

Walls of stone
Reminder of past.
Line the streets
Where people pass.

The buildings lay
Brown with age;
Blending into hills
But still center stage.

Climbing Pukamuqu
A tiring feat,
For those who try
Walk the narrow street.

Atop the mountain
Is a monument.
Watching over all
For every moment.

Cristo Blanco blesses
The ancient city below
Arms stretched wide
To embrace whole.

All are amazed, viewing
The marvelous view below
This majestic carpet
Which is Cuzco.

I would really appreciate comments and feedback. I'm new to this and want some opinions.

Autumn Afternoon

Cobblestone streets festooned with leaves
Implore many to wear cashmere sleeves.
Cooling winds breath their sigh
Aiding geese south as they fly.

Sunbeams pour like champagne
Coloring the deciduous autumn domain;
Sparkling hues of yellow and red
Hover softly above the head.

Leaves of maple, gold in tone
Fall only when, the wind has blown.
Delicate the stems that held the blade
Raw from the sudden and windy raid.

Acorn street now with leaves abound;
Colorful gems all over the ground.
Red brick houses adorn this block
With beautiful doors welcoming knocks.

Autumn afternoons are colored with reverie
To be lived within the season’s boundary.
Imbuing the soul with an ephemeral glee
Life will be hard when glee goes free.

The Hunt

Snow freshly fallen
On gentle mountains.
The noon sun bright
In skies so cloudless.

Across the moor
Trees rise high.
Soft winds entice
Aspens to sigh.

Silent is nature
In cold Tahoe;
The sacred place
Of tribe Washoe.

The forest is quiet
For nature slumbers.
In caves and dens
Natural chambers.

Men begin tradition,
Being up and active.
Going through beds
Of natures inactive.

Fearless they are
Playing in the fields.
Where nature sleeps
And the land shields.

Just like children
These men love to play.
But the difference
These men love to prey.

Shots so loud
The earth shakes.
Men stomp around
But nothing awakes.

Those who sleep
Had no chance.
Again man has won
It shows, in his stance.

This act of disturbance
In the resting season,
Hunting and sporting
To God, it's treason.

Once pure white,
Now stained red.
Once virgin snow
Now memorial for dead.

Please comment, I'd like to hear what people think.

Ephemeral

The glow of the dying sun
Colors the city pale orange.
Only a moment the scene lasts;
Turning to memory so foreign.

The orange glow cress tulips,
Lending them a vivid hue.
Only a season tulips will last;
Wilting until their next debut.

The glow that fills the hearts
Of lovers in embrace;
“Forever” they say it will last,
Until lovers knot unlace.

Why must beautiful things
Fade away and die?
Leaving taunting memories
Which will fade in time?

Wanderlust

The hearts of youth long to wander
Through streets of a foreign locale.
Pass the gates of Chinese temples
And row down Venetian canals.

An unrelenting urge pulses through
The Veins of youth who quickly move;
Place to place seeking distracting solace
From pressures they feel the need to prove.

Hanabi -Fireworks-

Thunder roars throughout the night,
Echoing off the walls of white.

Beyond the rooftops the sky glows
With splendid colors of varied tones.

Glint of the fireworks coquettishly imbue
The dark satin sky with a wondrous revue.

Along the shore admirers look to see
Dancing lights mirroring on a wading sea.

The raining confetti fades away,
Leaving all yearing the fulgent display.

Another year they all must wait
To celebrate the new and stay up late.

Lima

Perched on a cliff,
Towering from the sea.
Embracing a cool breeze;
Lima is the city.

Miles of pueblo jovenes,
Surround her heart.
Like a flock of sheep,
Not wanting to part.

Slums lay there
In shades of beige.
When they really want
Be red with rage.

In Cono Sur
Dreams fade in and out.
Children run free;
Through fields of drought.

In hillsides huts
Families strive
With endless hope
But never thrive.

Fear falls upon
Their honest faces
Perils of reality dawn
In this dangerous place.

So different from
The city's heart;
In these forgotten slums
People fail to start.

In Miraflores,
Privileged are the people.
Abundant are the shops
And churches with steeples.

Men here hold keys
To an absolute power.
With steel arms of might
All they do is devour.

Climbing up the submit
On backs of their countrymen
They control liberty
Through venal assemblymen .

The streets are wide
Lined with houses of white.
Men pruning hedges
How lovely a sight.

Life in Lima
Is a glimmering façade.
Most live in slums
Or her many esplanades.

This is the Lima
They want all to see.
Grand desert city
Down by the sea.
