Autumn Afternoon
Cobblestone streets festooned with leaves
Implore many to wear cashmere sleeves.
Cooling winds breath their sigh
Aiding geese south as they fly.
Sunbeams pour like champagne
Coloring the deciduous autumn domain;
Sparkling hues of yellow and red
Hover softly above the head.
Leaves of maple, gold in tone
Fall only when, the wind has blown.
Delicate the stems that held the blade
Raw from the sudden and windy raid.
Acorn street now with leaves abound;
Colorful gems all over the ground.
Red brick houses adorn this block
With beautiful doors welcoming knocks.
Autumn afternoons are colored with reverie
To be lived within the season’s boundary.
Imbuing the soul with an ephemeral glee
Life will be hard when glee goes free.
