Mark Giles Poem
We docked the ship
dropped anchor in the bay
headed for the shore
pulling oars all the way
the Captain at the helm
the Scientist at his side
the joy in his face
had no place to hide
look at the Botany
was all he could say
then Captain Cook said
call it Botany Bay

Mark Giles Poem
I can't remember
your name or your face
I don't even know
why I'm in this place
now have I been bad
or have I been good
they call me Alzheimer's
but I don't think they should
I think my name
is Robert or Bob
but using my memory
is a hell of a job
now sit back and tell me
what was your name
and tell me once more
the reason you came !!!
I'm your Doctor
Alzheimer's

Mark Giles Poem
Why am I here
this isn't my home
I do miss my mountain
and the trees where I'd roam
and what of my family
where have they gone
God knows if they're safe
but still life goes on
I hope they're not waiting
not waiting for me
just looking around
I'll never be free

Mark Giles Poem
He created man
as a dream to be
an experiment in a bottle
to be kept you see
he created the world
as a place to be free
but someone opened the bottle
and set man on a spree
Big Mistake

Mark Giles Poem
Yesterday
my computer fried
yesterday
my car just died
yesterday
my house burnt down
now I'm out on the street
dressed like a clown
I want to go back
to live in a cave
gave up on technology
I ain't that brave
give me a river
where I can catch fish
it may be only a dream
but it's a bloody good wish

Mark Giles Poem
One, two, three
one hundred and four
five, six, seven
eight hundred and more
I'm so confused
and I feel so sad
stock take on my ant farm
drives me mad

Mark Giles Poem
Forgiveness
the gift of giving
May you find the way to forgive yourself
for the troubles you've put yourself through
for life is a life long journey
and no one has the answer but you

Mark Giles Poem
Bring me the bottle
the Genie said
I need a new home
to rest my head
pack it with silk
the best you can find
for the walls you see
all have to be lined
and it must be sound proof
so you can't hear my tears
for I'm gonna be trapped
for a thousand years

Mark Giles Poem
So we meet again
young lady in red
off to see Grandma
with a loaf of bread
picking some flowers
to brighten her day
skipping and singing
along the way
and Grandma is waiting
she'll be happy to see
she may not see you
but I know she'll see me

Mark Giles Poem
The world looks so lovely
out here today
the sun's shining bright
and there's dolphins at play
they're racing the waves
at the bow of the ship
like teenage surfers
on a surfboard trip
they seem so happy
just a wave sets them free
what a wonderful way
for life to be
