Stay, flower, stay!

I walked by the most beautiful flower
My heart longing to own it and hold it forever
It did not just win my heart
But also spoke to me, eyes never apart...

Difficult though it was
I walked away and let it pass
Because love is
Also about letting go, and
Letting it stay
Where its colours create the best play!

The Tricky Fate

Everyone has a whole book -
Many with papers,
Some with barely the hook...
The one with bounty
Does not know how to cook
The one in dearth
Fills in every nook!

The stubborn curve

A smile
Can mean happiness,
When brimming with bliss.

A smile
Can mean surprise
With twinkle in one’s eyes .

A smile
Can mean empathy
When hearing a story.

A smile
Can mean sorrow
Burying it further heart’s burrow.

But when a smile
Never loses its shine
That can only mean—

A determined mind!

The lost dream

One day
I was told about this maze
And I walked to it,
Amazed.

I turned one corner to the next
I even marked my way
Lost i am, lest!

I wonder what the reward could be
As I see the first sign
Would it be joy, or would it not be.

I found the first prize
Strong and comfortable
The haven did look nice
But i sensed it was cold, that I was able!

I flew the nest
Back into the maze
Searching for the best.

In and in I went
Guided by light, care and laughter
Seemed that my heart it mend.

I found the light
Glowing warm
Little did I know
Going closer hurts, farther bright!

Cold and burnt
Back into the maze
Clueless I wander.

I find a blanket
Only to be taken
Before I even protect.

I then find a cool stream
It’s water soothing
And its melody, smooth as is cream.

I reach out
With my cold, burnt hands
Only to hit
My bed’s wooden plank.

I never mourned a lost dream
But I do now
Not since it’s the long lost cool stream
But because
It was not just a dream!

Sweet Nostalgia

Have you ever wondered that every time you choose something new - it’s exciting,
looks and feels fresh,
probably swells your heart
depending on how much you wanted it..

But there is always this feeling
Of nostalgia
Lingering in the back of your mind
Coming out in different colours every time -
Red as pain,
Triggering a tear rain,
Green as joy,
Gleaming in the eye!

But have you ever wondered
How when the new becomes old
And when you don’t feel those feelings
That often
You’ve just done one thing - accept the new!

But, remember,
If any old memories bring joy
And the new, sorrow,
You are in the wrong place.
Just remember,
New feels wonderful and
Old feels nostalgic
Until you accept the new - then you feel peace!
Never settle for the less!

Fear

A little child
Got scared of looking
Into the mirror
Fearing ugliness
Look back at her
As she had always been told…

When she grew up
She got scared of failing
In her exams
Fearing neglect
And punishment
As she had always felt…

In her school
She got scared of speaking
With her classmates
Fearing her ugliness
And the subsequent neglect
As she thought would happen…

In her home
She got scared of sharing
What she had gone through
And felt
As she never experienced being heard…

She was fearful
Of fear
And all that she feared for
To only increase
Her fear and
The fearful.

One day
When she woke up
Startled by an unassuming but
Loud sound,
She realised
It was loud because
She was drowning in her fear…

That day
She woke herself up
To face it -
To face herself in the mirror
And love her -
She found that she was loved back.
To face failure -
And realised that success tasted better.
To speak her mind -
And feel light again.

All this taught her
That she must listen —
Listen to herself
To conquer that
Which had conquered her so long..
Fear!

The breeze

The gentle breeze

Though you’ve swished past me
I am still hearing your soothing words
It was not that of love or affection
But that of understanding and meaning.

Though I could neither see or hear you anymore
I know that the feeling of warmth that you wrapped me in
And the confidence that had bloomed in me.

Though days have passed since I felt the warmth
And I know that you moved away with the cloud
I am forever thankful that you had been
The gentle breeze for my
Hurt and painful heart!
The wound might scar
But only to remind of the soothing, warm and
Gentle breeze!

Moving with the glow

The beautiful imprints
My younger mind hints
Has several colours
Darker and paler
Too bright to forget
Too deep to reset

Home is where heart is, they say;
Or is it that
The heart is always where home is?

But for a wanderer,
The heart is her home
And sweet memories,
In her walls they adorn

For every new day that dawns
With impressions none

Can

Still

Blow the clouds outright
For the sun to shine abright!

Now I smile less but truly

True and Deep within me
I found it
That I have lost
My smile
Which I had used
Hope and soul
But to defend
sorrow and pain
No longer
Will entice
My heart
With its positivity
I know that
I should stay true-
To myself
I owe that
At the least…

P.S. you can read this backwards (too).

Betrayal

I fell
It ached

I cried
Under the sheets

I laughed
With people around

I smiled
Joy never truly found

Still, I trusted
But, again,
I fell...
