The lost dream
One day
I was told about this maze
And I walked to it,
Amazed.
I turned one corner to the next
I even marked my way
Lost i am, lest!
I wonder what the reward could be
As I see the first sign
Would it be joy, or would it not be.
I found the first prize
Strong and comfortable
The haven did look nice
But i sensed it was cold, that I was able!
I flew the nest
Back into the maze
Searching for the best.
In and in I went
Guided by light, care and laughter
Seemed that my heart it mend.
I found the light
Glowing warm
Little did I know
Going closer hurts, farther bright!
Cold and burnt
Back into the maze
Clueless I wander.
I find a blanket
Only to be taken
Before I even protect.
I then find a cool stream
It’s water soothing
And its melody, smooth as is cream.
I reach out
With my cold, burnt hands
Only to hit
My bed’s wooden plank.
I never mourned a lost dream
But I do now
Not since it’s the long lost cool stream
But because
It was not just a dream!
