Stephen Mayne Poem
Open your eyes and you will see
The beauty that surrounds us
Listen with your ears and here
The sounds that calm us
In a world that seems so cruel, dark and full of all our fears
All we really need is a new course to steer
So many people with all their problems hanging on a hook
There's still light, peace and joy if we only knew where to look
Why can't we raise our weary heads
Let it all go and become who we're meant to be instead
Stop hiding away from things you doubt
No more excuses, no more hanging about
Open your mind and you'll be free
This world can be a better place, you will see
A place that's not so dark and cruel
A place where light, love and peace surround us all

Stephen Mayne Poem
True love is like a wild rose
It can bring so much joy
Beauty and vibrance to behold
Then when you reach out to your hearts desire
The thorns cut deep and scar forever
Once plucked it can never be restored
The very thing you once adored
The rose will wilt and the colour will drain
A distant memory will be all that remain

Stephen Mayne Poem
It's time for the battle to end
Lay down your arms why can't we just be friends
Life wasn't meant to be this way
It's time for us to stop the fighting today
The young we bring into life must see
That peace is what we want to achieve
Its time for the battle to end
Lay down your arms why can't we just be friends
Life wasn't meant to be this way
It's time for us to stop the fighting today
The bloodshed has gone on to long
Why must the innocent be scorned
For what did they ever do wrong
It's time for the battle to end
Lay down your arms why can't we just be friends
Life wasn't meant to be this way
It's time for us to stop the fighting today
Open your eyes and look around
What have you achieved in this land
There's nothing but greed, misery and hate
Is this what we really want to relate
It's time for the battle to end
Lay down your arms why can't we just be friends
Life wasn't meant to be this way
It's time for us to stop the fighting today
Now's the time to find a better way
Restore the peace and hope we need
Just put an end to the fighting please
It's time for the battle to end
Lay down your arms why can't we just be friends
Life wasn't meant to be this way
It's time for us to stop the fighting today

Stephen Mayne Poem
Just wondering why
Just wondering when
Just wondering what is to be
Is it for me to hear
Is it for me to see
Is it just meant to be
What is expected of me
What is it I'm supposed to be
What is it to be free
Searching for life
Searching for the answer
Searching until I can search no more
Wanting to care
Wanting to share
Wanting to just be there
Just wondering if
Just wondering how
Just wondering what is meant to be

Stephen Mayne Poem
Running running running
You've got no place to go
Running running running
Where've you been, where you going to go
Running running running
So fast you don't know
Running running running
From a past that won't let you go
Running running running
Towards a future you don't know
Running running running
Because running's all you know

Stephen Mayne Poem
The past will fade
The future will come
There's nothing more that can be done
Let it all go and get on your way
There's always gonna be another day

Stephen Mayne Poem
Oh traffic light, oh traffic light
Why do you keep me waiting so.
Oh traffic light, oh traffic light
With your red light glaring and your ominous glow.
Oh traffic light, oh traffic light.
Do please hurry, I'm going to miss my show
Oh traffic light, oh traffic light
Time passes so slowly, as I await your green signal, to go.

Stephen Mayne Poem
Camping beneath the shimmering stars
Makes me realise how insignificant we really are
The moonlight gently caressing the world outside a canvas door
Such a beautiful, calm picture, I often find myself longing for
In the wilderness, back to nature
Far from the ever growing lights of the town
Away from the hussle and bussle, far from every thing that makes me frown
The peace, the tranquillity
Time to consider your own reality
Following the natural cycles of the earth
Some how reconnects you to your own self worth
Sleeping from dusk till dawn
Being woken by the birds morning song

Stephen Mayne Poem
Can you tell me, who's the man behind the mask?
Who gives a clever illusion, of a created past.
We've painted his portrait, but will the face we painted last?
A shadowy figure cloaked in mystery, making us laugh.
Do you really know this person, whos play in which we've all been cast?
We listen to a poetic song, leading us on a dance, with a rhythm so strong, so fast.
We're all so happy to be deluded with his attention, as he sits in the limelight and basks.
But once again I yell from the crowd, do you know who's the man behind the mask?
We've been lapping up his stories, like dogs lapping tea from a fallen flask!
Shouldn't we even bring his colourful stories to task.
But no one else has actually stopped to even ask.
Who's the man behind the mask?

Stephen Mayne Poem
I take a walk into the darkness
Deeper and deeper I go
Such courage, such enthusiasm
As I so boldly walk on a path I did not know
With every step I take
The light fading
The path winding
So very disorientating
A frightening feeling
Somehow realising
The demons are whispering
Dancing and prancing
Never seeing, never touching
But just there, behind my back
Waiting, deliberating, as to when I might snap
Feeling a little scared now
Thinking this idea, should've never been conceived
A way back now, is what I need
Maybe I should just stop
Is it time to turn back and run
But the curious darkness looms and beckons me on and on
The demons too whisper their song
Come and dance with us, on and on
You know you just want to belong
Then all of a sudden, all is gone
No light to see, nothing left, not even me
A skeleton left, where I used to be
My mind, my body, entrapped
When all I longed for, was to be free
I see now this isn't right
I really need to put up a fight
Return myself back to the light
The demons whispers are all but rubbish
All I need now, is my own good courage
Battling on and on
I'll find a better way
Living my life from day to day
Never looking back
But always remembering not to stray
Back to the place where my demons lay.
