The Unlovable Woman

there's a damning secret
hidden deep within her essence
the spirit does not forget
she will always feel its presence
      refusing to be denied
      its taunting's always been there
      where can one hide
      from predestined despair?
the shadow was so sweet
veiling the truth for so long
light of maturity was its defeat
revealing all her qualities as wrong
      a woman born unlovable
      swaddled in loneliness
      never to be desirable
      holding hands with hopelessness
so long and hard she's strived
to be all that she is not
but ghastly truth has arrived
undoing all for which she's fought
      it sharpens its claws
digging the depths of her mind
      exposing all her flaws
'til there's nothing good to find

Important History

if time could be traveled
I'd take America's children
on an historic adventure
to undo public school brain washing
a time before t.v. and internet
when kids played kick the can
      and used their imaginations
      and parents weren't ridiculously protective
going back farther still
they'd learn about our nation
all that America truly stands for
at last they'd learn true values
      witness the Boston Tea Party
signing of the Declaration of Independence
      hear our Constitution being read
      the Emancipation Proclamation too
so they'd learn to have respect for
God, humanity and good old fashion American values
all that once made America great
they'd proudly say the Pledge of Allegiance
their little hearts would fill with joy
       at "One nation under God"
indeed, if time could be traveled
I'd undo the public schools' brain washing!

Where Am I

you've invaded my heart
and tried to rape my soul
perpetually picking me apart
you can't love me if I'm whole
I listen to the mirror scream
   as you're ranting about
   the importance of self-esteem
   while you promote self-doubt
yes, the mirror screams
at an appalling reflection
ah, the false light gleams
on flaws too horrid to mention
   as your poison flows
   rapidly through my veins
   my own essence slows
now, not a trace of me remains
your imposed need to change
to match your twisted fantasy
has me striving to rearrange
my physical and mental reality
   solely for your pleasure
   my true self forgotten
   an ever building pressure
   oppression takes the win

A Cold Dark Night

there's just something about
a cold dark night
that seems to bring about
an incredible urge to write
so many stories can be spun
              from this one mysterious line
              many adventures have begun
              at this magical starting sign
frosted moonbeams
reach out to send
frozen dreams
to loving lend
              a portal to the muse
              of the cold dark night
              inspiration can't refuse
              her soft cool light
it's absolutely amazing
how a night dark and cold
always ends up blazing
with countless stories being told

Create Courageously

create a non cohesive fantasy
whimsical and demented
entwine legend with reality
let craziness be invented
            celebrate all dysfunction
            put it in the spotlight
            see if logic can function
            given only nonsense to highlight
just use a bit of magic
when putting pen to paper
migrate to the mystic
embrace your inner creature
             spin a vivid story
with each glide of the pen
             set your imagination free
walk through the door you open

Subconscious Nature

layers of sunsets
embrace my heart
the spirit never forgets
emotional works of art
                   slowly fading light
                   ever so softly glows
                   beckoning night
                   casting shadows on tomorrows
multitudes of sunrises
scorching my mind
memories of prizes
I never thought I'd find
                   slowly growing light
                   learning how to shine
                   granting clear sight
                   a gift truly divine
all I'm left with is today
and the promise of tonight
dark and light's seductive sway
a raging passionate fight

Search For Poetry

I watch the curling smoke
rising from my cigarette
my mind’s flat broke
my creative spirit begins to fret
    sipping my hot coffee
    listening to the cold rain
    wishing something would inspire me
    and end this poet’s strain
I start jotting down words
and random gibberish phrases
most no one’s ever heard
extracted from my mind’s hazes
but I really need to write
    something that’s worth reading
    locked in a brutal fight
    come on, pen start bleeding!

To You I Turn

as my soul sheds tears
liquid sparkling crystals
yet, still so sharp
no one ever hears
    to you I turn
seeking blissful comfort
filling for the holes
craving the sound of an angel's harp
to slaughter the dreadful hurt
    to you I turn
as my heart screams
a silent yet piercing wail
heard by none
I'm devoured by shattered dreams
    to you I turn
craving love's sweetest touch
needing to tell my tale
believing the pain will be done
as in fairy tales and such
    to you I turn
I turn to you
obeying a basic command
of my tortured heart
to myself being true
hoping for the touch of your tender hand
putting together what's been torn apart
    only to be pushed away
and watch my love go astray
yet, still, I turn to you.

The Collective

slaughter of compassion
virtue out of fashion
soul selling for a trend
how far can morals bend?
an accepted disease
coughing up sleeze
poisonous expectations
more and more vile creations
the coffin crafted by insanity
another splinter of calamity
emotional corruption
condemning self expression
negligent empathy
slaves to apathy
filthy rage grows
in an explosion of woes
a mass collaboration
birthing an abomination
obliterating all value
striving to subdue
the beast of individuality
mourn the remnants of lost sanity

Today In America

today we swore in our 45th president
and celebrated our Revolution
with a spectacular event
the Presidential Inauguration
                  today we celebrate
                  our beautiful country
                  let's put aside hate
                  and embrace unity
I am a Republican
you may be Democratic
but we are both American
and therein lies the magic
                  we can come together
we can hold each other's hand
we can build a bright future
                  in this, our magnificent land
we stand united in our freedom
and strong in our values
we cherish our patriotism
in spite of opposing views
                 today is not about partisanship
                 nor who lost or won
                 today is about our citizenship
                 and our beloved Constitution

God bless America! God bless all Americans both Republican and Democrat! And God bless our 45th president, President Donald John Trump!
