Suicide Note

SUICIDE NOTE

If you need to learn the alphabet of war
Start from 'A' man who bit his own tongue
He will let you know how pain becomes small pox
That writes sore poems all over the body.
Leave a sad man to a piano
And he will find the right keys
To his type of music.
Another ship has capsized in my body
My eyes are yet to find fins
And I am not streamline
But I would love to see if there are survivors
There won't be, for water is not different from fire
As night is not different from day, to a blind man.
To run from my memories
I will have to die, and leave them
In the heart of another victim
But my mother's soul is an old nest
Waiting for my bird to return from the land-
of burning trees.
The last time I visited the cemetery
I built three cities:
- The first was Paris
- The second was Cairo
- The third was Lagos
But I only left with a stick of cigarette, a firelighter-
and soft fumes of burning weed.
So I am dying tomorrow
To a land where a stranger can come
And build my unfulfilled dreams
For of what use are these dreams?
If they cannot be stolen, but I can be killed.
If you see my mother looking outside the window
Tell her the empires I promised her are waiting
In a foreign land, nearby.

The Time Is Now

???THE TIME IS NOW
.
Tomorrow
These walls won't listen no more
The night will grow into a dawn
Your shadow shall begin to fly
And your dream, a waving flag
.
Tomorrow
We won't call this love no more
Because you will wake and call
But I won't be here, but faraway
Hustling, catching up with trains
.
Tomorrow
You will break a bond and smile
But I will be on a different ride
Your hair will make a tender fall
But I have learnt the art of lust
.
But before the day grows so grey
And we lose a hold of childhood
Before it all become a snowflake
Melting into breeze, soft and idle
Listen as I sing out these spells
And then, you perform the magic
.
Before we learn a new language
Of a universe as deep as poetry
Before we open this brown page
And begin the quests for history
Listen as I write you some lyrics
Then, you sing the world a song
.
Smell the roses, as cock crows
And believe me, the time is now
.

Slavery

SLAVERY
.
They said;
If I count, and I walk twenty-two steps back
I will find death somewhere in mother's eyes
They said;
When I'm twenty-seven, and I become a man
I will read meaning to the jargons on my palm
.
They said;
If I begin to find fun when girls raise their skirts
I will lead a busy, and a bloody course to death
They said;
If I seek comfort from the cold caress of beer
I will lose my spirit, and heaven doesn't care
.
( But who are they? )
.
They are the men who have conquered hell
And have massacre the living proof of mortality
They are the priests who call us brethren
But knot our tongues off the taste of humanity
They are clergies, in turbans, who speak spells
But teach us that magic is evil and brutality
.
I have read from the Bible, and the Qur'an
I have found nothing but the truth of slavery
I have seen what the books make of human
I have heard how they jeopardize our bravery
I have had a taste of how we become mutants
I have seen them subject our sanity to mockery
.
( This is how to steal your freedom )
.
Touch gently the two thousand and seven teens
Feel those prophecies, see if any has come true
Sleep, and make lust a woman in your dreams
Check if the day will break upon your face too
You shall know the truth, and shall grow wings
Then you can fly from the slavery you pray to
.

Awero

ÀWÈRÓ
.
There is something in your eyes
That makes me feel at home
Immortality dwells in your arms
When they wrap around my bones
My heart steps to 'rock and roll'
Everytime you ray your brow
.
I am lost in this poem
Just because I find you there
But tell them I'm not coming back
Because these rhymes are my paradise
If your fears are the layers of ozone
Àwèró, I shall burn myself to CO
.
Your smile is the path of saints
When they stare so long at the sky
Your hair falls like the rain
When it dares to kiss the earth
If perfection is what you desire
Then stay the way you are
.
There are nine planets on my tongue
We shall merrily sojourn in there
When my eyes glance your wrongs
I shall watch them sail to their ends
If your tears ever lose one drop
I will fetch an ocean back in love
.
So let me make you a woman tonight
Let me write a song for your sleeps
For when it finds a place in your mouth
A baby shall drop from your skin
Then our story shall begin it's prologue
And we can build ourselves a mirror
.

By the Seaside

BY THE SEASIDE
.
The sky is broken again
The shore-rocks ripped apart
Memories do last they say
My reflections so afar
No one knows how this tide rises
No one sees my tears in this crises
.
That night, it began like a movie
Her sun began to blush on summer
My eyes went deep down rolling
As she draw her feet past the border
Daughter, that was how your mother left
To rest, perhaps die in the west
.
The breeze became a glutton
Sucking my blood down to marrow
I remember the sweet me, a suitor
And how then the tracks became narrow
Daughter, the day your mother left
I bit my right eyes for my left
.
Here I am, by the seaside
Watching you grow in this water
Into a woman, a bit meaner
Than your genesis, your mother
Daughter, keep your feet off her shoe
They beat one's face into a brook
.
But if you fall by the sweet lies of war
Come find me by the seaside
So I may show you who your mother was
And how she crawled to my dream land
Daughter, It is his to build a home
If it crumbles, it is yours to make it whole

Genocide- a Necessary Evil

GENOCIDE: A NECESSARY EVIL

When the East caught fire
Deafened by the noise of their own sun
They said healing was natural
Because Ojukwu was their son
Bitter leaves spread over Umuahia
In numbers that could set the world ablaze

If you found love in Kano
It must have fallen from a bird that lost home
Kano was a city of differences
And tribal similarities
That was where a friend died
Chest blown up, smelled of virgin blood

Freedom was the moan of a girl
Who hid the sun between her legs
She would burn
But farewells beckoned to her storm
Eastern Nigeria was buried in warm skin-
a corpse whose feet still walks today

Every bitter song has a note of joy-
a beauty that once belonged to the Israelites
A hope that the land where dryness had dissolved
Would soon wear the wet shades of light
There is half of every dawn in the moon
A proof that white skies rise from dusty roofs

History is a boy with three balls
“The rise, fall, and rise of Biafra”

Finding Home

FINDING HOME
.
I know the names of death
I know how to write them in a verse
I know the path to mother's breasts
And even in darkness, how to suck them for life
.
I search my eyes for an eye
That sees through these mirrors of lie
I bore a hole on my tongue
So I may know the true taste of love
.
These things on my palm like films
Are the blueprints of the road that leads home
The green strands beneath my skin
Draws me a sweet epistles of hope
.
I have read the testament of misery
And I have become a sucker for victory
I have learnt the language of hades
And I have seen the bareness of pain
.
Every drop of water becomes healing
When a rooftop is burning
Every snow that falls upon this road
Shows me how closer I am to finding home
.
This journey home begins from the mind
Then to every magical line in a verse
Then to the eyes that never miss one shot
And to feet that trample upon all loss
.

Smell the Roses

Life is too short
To write testaments of pain
Upon your beautiful face.
Find love while the sun shines
So you may blossom in warmth
When the night finally knows your name.

Life is too short
To see a soldier and smell war
When deep in his eyes
Lies veins of patriotism and sacrifice.
Learn the art of love
For you are a written epistle, to all men.

Life is too short
To see a brother walk on the sea
And say he knows not how to swim.
Take some time off
Tell your shadow to say after you
While you recite the pledge of brotherhood.

Life is too short
To think about the battles you fought
And the treasures you lost
When surely, we shall find joy.
Say prayers before you sleep
And toast with heaven in your dreams.

Wake up and smell the roses
For you're the beauty of mankind

The Lazy Man's Poem

The rest of the world sleep at night
The dead too, unless there are errands to run.
& this is why dreamland is a clumsy place to be.
But the best time to hibernate the tongue
& let the nose do the snoring is early morning
When the length and breadth of Paradise
Is minimized into the size of your mattress
& you have all the peace in the world
Unto yourself clenching it firm in your fists
& dipping them loosened inside your pants.
The best time to mimic the dead is when
All the phases of darkness lie in the
Distance between your eyelids & pupils
& you record a voice note on your cellphone
Telling anyone who remembers you exist
That you do not. These are times when
You take a break from reality
When life holds you by the tail & you keep
Slipping off, merrimenting in the fantasies
Of your illusions & reminding the world
That most times, the lazy man lives longer.

Lollypop

LOLLYPOP

Smooth sail
Sticky-white rain
Rough ride down her
Knocks hard and harder
She wants to lick the writer
She's driving me to my climax

Drain these bottles all upon me
Let me make one more blink
Then my sanity shudders
Pull my lollypop out
Go pants down
Down down

Pretty suck
Tongue so soft
Paving way tonight
Turning left, diving right
Shawty's heart beating faster
Thighs wider, screaminglouder

Come nearer, taste my lollypop
I will teach you how to moan
Let us not lose these moon
While we count the stars
Tonight, let me rule
This hour is ours
