Melodies of the Heart

It’s so awesome the way you make me feel.
We promise to love in sickness and health
though we fall short in abundance of wealth;
my ardent heart skips a beat for you still.

I bat my brown eyes; you love my high heels.
I am the prettiest girl of your dreams.
I capture your love all at once it seems,
my ardent heart skips a beat for you still.

Our love is true, genuine and so real.
There is no one else for you other than me.
Remember our hearts carved on that old tree?
My ardent heart skips a beat for you still.

It’s so awesome the way you make me feel;
my ardent heart skips a beat for you still.

Hero

This poem was written for a friend whose nephew served in Iraq and Afghanistan and now suffers with severe PTSD.

Here's to this warrior.
Cheers to this warrior hero.
Here’s to this warrior.
Cheers to this warrior - we know

beneath eagles wings
special forces soar
below, dusty battle grounds
dirty scenes of war.

Honor forever engraved
an inscription none can steal
unbroken bond for life
guarded, locked and sealed .

Home between two pillars
far from distant fields
humbly submissive
a thankful heart yet yields.

Never to be forgotten
wounded hearts and minds
forever strong arm-in-arm
the best of humankind.

So, here
is this warrior,

cheers to this warrior -

Hero.

Yes-Men and Money

From behind the leather chair
Dictating orders, not here, there
Pointing, yelling, demanding
His presence, his money commanding
Yes-men fumbling, stumble to be first
Resembled blessings, hidden curse
Rising and falling the market unsure
Counting heartbreaks more to endure
The money train derailed a ways back
Leaving a trail of none intact
Contradictions, predictions of greedy hands
The love of money expands

Unity

Life’s many twists and turns make a full of life,
roll with the punches when you’re on a roll.
Time will prove to you that it takes time
for there is so much to do and live for.

Today I pray love, thankful for yesterday.
Knowing you’re happy, I’m grateful knowing
all that we do rests on giving our all.
Holding me close to you keeps me holding-on.

Years of bonding, our dreams has lasted, yearling
tears of joy and pain. The lesser are tears
more contagious than laughter, bound for more
love forever after, a lifetime of love.

Dedication to oneness is our dedication.
Unity proves - nothing stops this unity.

Self Love

Waste no time contemplating your failure
when there is much more road ahead untraveled.
Taste the seasons upon your lips and speak
then of the things which to your heart matters,

Reaching beyond to grab hold of your goal.
Above there're treasure deeply genuine,
teach yourself about what lies within is
loved and the turning point of your self-worth.

In constant battle, your mind clears itself
and your heart listens for what it needs to
begin to trust the dreams in mid flight and
band them jointly a perfect gift to you.

Enter today of new beginnings smiling
center your heart around things lovely.

For Now, We Wait

For Now, We Wait
Morning at the Quay in Venice by Helen Allingham (Painting #9)

Broken through
concrete and stone,
her heart felt ships passing
day and night.

She could no longer carry her
child with its tired feet,
her arms weighed down
by hunger and despair
and a husband
not yet returned
from sea.

Soon, she guarantees
her little one’s
searching eyes, soon.

Soon, he will embrace
us child with open arms
and big heart, with sea stories,
and food, much food to quiet
our stomach’s loud rumbles.

For now, water shall cool our feet,
we sit and wait together,
find things to laugh about
before his ship
comes alongside,
his two favorite girls.

The Destroyer

Cold and still, motionless
unless you caress its rapid fire.
Swaddled in an old fleece jacket
stained with pellets of sweat;
suppressed in darkness, weeping some say.

Restricted freedom and tears
bonded together barely by passionate rage.
A caged door open to a bird not willing to fly
without being coached into the sun.

A lifetime failing to rise above tortured circumstances;
concealed and loaded with enough artillery
to blast through mountainous rocks holding dreams captive
while listening to elevator music.

Anticipating the chance to advance
and prove to the world its worth and power;
secretly feeling small and empty,
surrounded by a pulse and heartbeat
and a world of knowledge and sadness.
Standing in a long line of trigger happy masters
eager to kill with words.

Death Comes Easy

death comes easy
to a finger on a trigger
hiding behind a soul
with no conscience

a thief with nothing of his own to steal,
bloody hands and empty heart,
he runs to evade death
he runs to evade justice and retaliation
he runs to evade fate
that hunts him down
eventually. He
smiles at the TV screen, eating supper,
hearing another senseless loss, washes
his food down with a gulp of cold beer,
kisses his gun. Satan’s slave,
living in darkness filled with hate and rage.
With no hope for his future he steals
futures and dreams.

death comes easy
to his finger on a trigger
hiding behind a soul
with no conscience

Aims
Fires
Takes away life

Aims
Fires
Runs to preserve his own

failing to realize,
without a future
he is already
dead.

death comes easy
to a finger on a trigger
hiding behind a soul
with no conscience

.....STOP THE VIOLENCE! .....

The Locked Garden

The garden’s rainbow blooms beyond the skies,
skies which soon greets the eagle as he flies.
Flies high above the beauty of the earth,
earth and heaven experienced since birth.
Birth and praise rise high to the trumpets sound.
Sound divine as rose pedals on the ground,
ground revels in laughter spread to the field.
Field of dreams outlasting shadows of doubt,
doubt which cannot convince our hope to fade,
fade from bright shades of color into night.
Night always casts a few short hours lost,
lost in oneself is much too high a cost.
The locked garden opens its heart to dance,
dance exuberantly in kind romance.

Fragile

Painting #6 Theater by Mary Cassatte 1879

Fragile

Captivated, alive,
every ounce of her being,
coming to life, every delicate
emotion danced.

Every mastered note romanced
her deeply, a love affair long-lasting
dare not end tonight, dare not
bow as the curtain closes
hiding from her
fluttering heart.

Sounding off as the drumbeat
fades into the dressing room,
reveal your face. She beckons
her love as the
curtain remains
closed.
