Prateek Maheshwari Poem
Bid on My Love, Tell me the Truth
Present me a future, look past my present
Past all our problems, let our love be ever-present
Bother not with the pleasant, show me what I'll resent
Your love I might love, but will I hate your effervescence?

Prateek Maheshwari Poem
TREMBLES and THRILLS
Her heart shivers
As it draws near
The darkness loud
The footsteps silent
The shadow trembles
Void of a body
A presence is felt
Wolves howl shrill
Is it darkness they fear,
Or that which is near?
She races faster
Than her heart beats
The trees race with her feet
Senses numb
Shadows she feels
The canopy thickens
Her pace quickens
A light appears
At the end of a tunnel
Far as she can see
"That's not right;
A tunnel in the trees?"
She races back
She races forth
Heart pounding in her throat
A light appears
To her left, to her right
She races past
She paces fast
Warnings flash in her mind
Stumbles on a road
Concrete as any
Waves to the truck
Approaching at speed;
Deer in the headlights
The road, red
The truck, air
The wolves, quiet
The illusion, gone;
The shadow, trembles.

Prateek Maheshwari Poem
EDIT: In case I am breaking some rules of writing a couplet, I'd like to apologize in advance, this being one of my first entries on this site. Thank you very much!
Bid on my Love, Ask if you Want
A lonely heart, it lies sore
Far from the horizon, on the shore
Whittled by the tides, incessant as time
Bleeds slowly into the horizon, like the sunshine
Carve if you must,
Blow off the dust
Stab with a needle, bring it to life,
Then, my dear, will you be my wife?
Accept if you dare,
This person laid bare
The haunting of the past,
We'll hope it won't last.
For a utopia, we won't lust,
And a perfect world we won't trust
Past an injured present,
We'll look for a future pleasant
And care we will have only for the time,
Far as we can see, far as our headlights shine
And I promise, my dear, if it doesn't make sense no more,
I swear it'll lie back - quietly - back on the shore...

Prateek Maheshwari Poem
Succeed
Eyes shifty from worry
A gun awaits its release
Step up to the line
Get, Set and Go
Don't fail
Mind in order, hair askew
Pens at the ready
Make every second count
You may now begin writing
Don't fail
A cigarette to the lips
Six strings standing by
Prepare your mind
Step up to the mike
Don't fail
Braided tie, polished shoes
Smart as your paper says
Smile, nod, impress
Can you start this Monday?
Don't fail
White altar, whiter flowers
Fair lady on your arm
Answer the questions
You may now kiss the bride
Don't fail
A pigeon carries the message
The chitter chatter, a mere murmur
Hurry; hold; cry. Be brave
Take care of your mother for me
Don't fail
A pretty girl in her prom dress
Walking down the stairs
Hold back those tears
Dont wait up, Dad
Don't fail
Held prisoner, in a fortress
Of a pillow-wielding prince
Feel young again
Come on, grandpa
Don't fail
Buzzing sounds; Heavy breathing
Surroundings darken
Smile.
We're losing him
Didn't fail

Prateek Maheshwari Poem
I believe I learned how to count syllables today :'D
Would be happy to know even if I didn't, so do critique! :)
Siesta In The Moonlight
And we crawl under
The blanket of moonlit stars
Silence our white noise
Reading the books of our thoughts
Satisfied; switch off our eyes

Prateek Maheshwari Poem
Conflict
"You still talk to her?"
Innocent question, I turn
Back to the screen;
One set of green eyes, after all
Enough for the two of us
