The City Park Bench

The city park bench

Busy city, busy people, busy life
Privacy unattainable even when you strife
Busybodies around meddling everywhere
Privately aiming to muddle every affair

Yet they find peace in this location
Their love unrestrained by commotion
In the midst of chaos and foul stench
A love nest is built on a public bench

Encircled by noise yet they speak softly
People scampering yet they sit calmly
Hand in hand, innocently as if in paradise
Regardless of brutes present to jeopardize

Engrossed by each other’s company
Spontaneously crossing legs in synchrony
Unmindful of the stench from the adjacent trench
Sitting comfortably on the rusty metal bench

Seasons Come and Go

SEASONS COME AND GO

With a burst of colours
Of a bunch of flowers
Promising to bloom
Spring clearly loomed

Such beautiful art
Moved my heart
Forming a smile
Visible from a mile

Sudden showers of rain
Brought no pain
As they fell softly
Moistening lightly

Such refreshment
Brought contentment
Increasing flowers length
And renewing strength

As rivers flowed
My heart glowed
The promise of serenity
Overriding insecurity

Such stillness
Created a harness
And made me capture
The beautiful view of nature

With a boom of thunder
I really shuddered
Conscious of the dark clouds,
Lightning and storm so loud

Such a strong storm
Was beyond the norms
Shattering my haven
And to fear I caved in

Dazzling yellow rays
 Soon light the way
The promise of fearlessness
Overcoming fearfulness

Such transition
Prompted an evolution
Teaching me to reason
In any season

Society's Unbreakable Cycle

Society’s unbreakable cycle -Vongai Mupetesi
Ravening wolves in sheep’s clothing
Do not deceived! Their smiles are cunning.
Innocent seeming forms, yet truly malicious
Bruise the most, and to the mind are really infectious

Large round windows of the soul
Soon turn to moist fountains
Calmly, they perceive the beast’s foul
While inside anger accumulates like mountains

It is a circle circulating,
The society’s system is unbreakable,
Sardines are constantly attempting
Yet sardines defeating sharks is impossible

The culture itself is contaminated
Beasts biting and infecting in the process
The prey is infected
And in turn repeats the process

The cycle is unbreakable
Unknown is the hour of halt
The sharks are uncontrollable
And they will never be caught

The Connection

The connection
Eyes, windows to the soul
Eyes locking, deeper communication
Sigh, deep longing, ongoing fall
Feelings like never before

Natural ecstasy, dreamy, yet so real
Overwhelmed, intrigued, love so sincere
You can’t seize what they feel
Powerful, it overcomes fear

Heart to heart, mind to mind
Mutual understanding, meeting halfway,
Sacrificial love, hard to find,
Even in darkness finds a way

Imperfections made perfect
Flaws in character known
Never ending love, just perfect
Fought for, felt and shown

Insecure

INSECURE By Vongai Tinomudaishe Mupetesi
You look at yourself in the mirror
Try to smile but it turns to a frown
Because you don’t like who you are
Therefore you end up feeling down

Always compare yourself to other people
Never satisfied, never secure
Always feeling nothing other than feeble
Because you are insecure
You push away those who love you
Because you are not sure who to trust
You think they will leave you
Because your previous relationships didn’t last

So undecided, making wrong choices
You are impatient, you cant wait till later
Inside you have conflicting voices
You are not sure if you deserve better

So insecure, you don’t show your talents
So insecure, your life is a lament
So insecure, you don’t see your beauty
So insecure, you always feel lonely
So insecure, afraid of taking chances
So insecure, your life is full of pretense

All That Remains Now

All that remains now

Long talks and walks with folks
Seems like folk stories
Time spent in amusement
Maybe it was an enchantment
False, vivid beautiful memories
Now they are just folk stories

Remembrances, violently churned the heart
Eyes widened, heart grew warm
Just a thought brought a smile
Now what remains is a stone cold heart
Guarded by a bed of thorns
And a high wall

Blurred memories of the beautiful castle
Which was what it was when it was
But all that remains are ruins and rubble
And the vivid false beautiful memories
Are blurred now, almost unimaginable
All that remains are folk stories

Oil of Gladness

Broken,battered, brought down low
Shaken, I staggered, failed to stand tall
My oil, precious oil had been spilled
And toil coiled me,was almost killed

Torn, disappointed, I felt so small
Got into a shell, forgot my role
Enveloped by darkness,had no hope
Felt low,hopeless could not cope

Without my oil, theme was can not
Afraid, blinded, hiding was my fort
My oil precious oil had been spilled
Life was slimy-oily I almost slipped

But God stepped in and filled my cup
And where i was down,I went up
Instead of mourning oil of gladness
Never ending joy replaced sadness

I then realized God is a reservoir
He never runs out, hes not a creditor
Who asks for anything in return
Except from our sins to turn

And so, I was overwhelmed with joy
And from then on began to enjoy
The oil of gladness filled me
And I became a new me

Walking with God has given me hope
From the bottom now I"m on top
I stay close to the reservoir who fills me
So spilling is a temporary set back to me

I now know I cant pour from an empty vessel
So now I don't stay hidden in my empty shell
I step out positively, joyously, empowered by God
As the oil of gladness he gave me takes of loads

I embrace happiness over sadness
I embrace productivity over busyness
God has removed all mourning
And given me joy every morning
