New Song New Start

A New Song a New Start
written by Magneeta Sojourner
As the day and weeks ran behind me
looking for the truth
no answers to my questions
though I’d sifted though it all
Breaking from the silence
when nothing else would call
heard the echo of voices
banging in my ears
No one can hear what is not
spoken out aloud
No one knows it”s raining
without walking outside
I’d hoped it would happen
not happen like its
happened before
only leave without knocking
destiny is a thing not seen
even if its standing at the door
brush aside the doubting
and get up off the floor
the road you’ve been
travelin has become a
joyless sight seeing ride
becoming our weight
dead end one way street
looking for a exit cause
the gas is running low
don’t want be stranded
In this god forsaken
one man rider
broken pathway hole
trouble lights a flashing
out a s.o.s
pulled off to refer to a
torn and crumpled map
can’t make out the letters
So....
I’ll have to take it on faith
next stop will be the one
so this trip will be over
getting past pulling up
the hidden four leaf clovers
dotted in diamond drops
of water where the world
reflects back at me
instilled the lost innocence
firing as thunder clap cannons
into morning light
cut a new horizon
I found my shadow there
on the ground
stretched out in mile long
outline
Inside my mind the sound of
music replacing missing
notes that opened up engulfed
my fear to find
my eyes in rescued peace unfurling

Mop Bucket

I am scrubbing the floor at 3 am
with every swipe
I think your name
once held so dear

The floor now shiny and clean
muck and mire all washed away
dawns pale light
contrasts what swirls in the
mop bucket of my mind...

dirty thoughts
snarling biting
clinking tapping
cluttered stairs
tripping falling
edge of night
blocked out Sun
fighting light
erase unwanted
tumbled jumbled
spit stained name
corrupted in my head
ringing clanging
banging to be free
so in the silence
kill these words
before they kill me

M S 7/20/15

footnote: while it's not possible to make spit stains unless you're tobacco chewer it was only my mental imagery of how I did feel about this person.. I have since mentally set this ruined relationship aside in my head, but the pain still lives. Short of a form of brainwashing I guess there's no escape from remembering lost loves.

Hug Me

without a word I inquired of you
to allow me a quick hug to see me
though
So nicely my pixel head nestled upon
your pixel chest of which I
stood back from after a pause or two
least not wanting any tongues to wag
or disturb the honor of his lovers knot
My moment of sadness was stifled some
it lifted for that 6-second slot
Oh joyful mood that eludes now
will come again solemness was due
A smile returns from some unknown path
the corners of lip curl in reply
The internal struggle against sorrow
and pain was conquered by that friendly
pose

Mother of Pearl

Oh, oyster your tight shell beckons
in a mystery of your oval pristine walls
wherein you caress nacre gel over node
liquid spreading
so slowly from nature's painting palette
becoming a delicate dot so fiercely
held between rippled ribbons of moss
colored flesh gripping the yet revealed

Oh lovely Pearl

Will it be green or palest pink?
Perhaps a silver or black one?
White a favorite only followed by
creamy gold that seems to shout to
the world "I am nature's best"
Oh lustrous oyster your gift to
mankind so simple and round
the embellishment of crowns

Oh lovely Pearl

To release you from shell will
end the life cycle of Mother Oyster whose
wave rocking cradle will stop...
Years creating
gone in an instant
You will be the legacy of time
with breathtaking beauty, a treasure
to behold from beneath the sea
a new world awaits you

Oh lovely Pearl

Resurrection

Chattering teeth but not from the cold
Heart trip hammering out a beat
Head spinning thoughts swirling never

settled
Hairs rising over the scalp standing on

end
Veins prickle as needles send

pulsations from restricted blood
Brow hot in a fever a fire burns across
Throat retches convulses out tight

inescapable soundless murmurs muted
Ears buzzing ringing in concert of

internal synapses humming
Fingers tremble in unison twitching

shaking in a frayed live wire dance
Eyes closed sees the hot rays of sunlight

a crimson red on the surface of the retina
Skin suddenly vibrates an eruption of

sensations
then a Presence is sensed like a beam

light
blazes over each molecule
breaking the spell
lips are moistened as tender imperceptible
droplets mist over them
tongue peeks out catching the soothing

moisture
vocal cords freed
lungs inhale deeply
She opens fully
thrusts hands up
clasps them around
this incredible Essense
A chorus of sounds
burst into the air
rapture fills her soul
peace love joy is found
then touches eternity
all at once

Elevated Ellie

Bringing out all the little tricks in her bag wanting to impress and edge up in
standing of her circle of influence
having left behind the squares of preponderance
She laughed aloud at herself before anyone
else could

Out of the box and tossed in air the garments
was flying everywhere big poofs of gauzy and fluttery finery no better satins could be
had for the scenery besides Who would not stop and stare when she's seen there in something looking close to underwear

Alas, my poor girl who's direction is askew if you only knew. Take off put on repeat all day you wish you had a better you
but nothing is going to change from the outside in so find some new fittings and
sayings you'll be ok
tis better to know what's in front behind and all around for it's not to the crowd in which to be proud

Easy Pieces

Easy Pieces

here's a game it's free to start
just for you
no rules to remember

advancing tiers of notoriety
will shoot you to moon with
collecting the easy pieces

tokenish collateral
of implied worth will pay
dividends of altering quotient
values

advancing players that hit
the ranking soak in the
attentive perks of their making

wondering about those
perks and coin jingling
fables made convincing translated
in bank account weighing

conceptually losing plays little part as
the many
easy pieces may get lost or run out
to be then recovered as a new piece
gets on board

rewarded effect of hitting above
the standard quo brings starstruck
admirers to lap up in a gushing lode

so bring your dreams of making it
big .. right to the top
luck is formed by mixing smirk
in ropes of rubbery auto-delete
bonds

Satisfaction is a long stretch of
imagination
safety nets or crash protection
not included
Wanna play?

Time Cried

The clandestine time came and went unheeded
as did anticipate caresses faded
Come away from broken limbs unseen
close my ears shut my eyes to
heralding songs with no chorus
there is brightening spreading light
shadows run as veils of crystalline lace
dropped to the ground

Misty air surrounds all around me making
gray blue tendrils of floating pastoral
ghost shapes into my nostrils its wind I breathed thus
Pale colored vapor sucked dry
evaporating hope shriveling to dust
it clings and catches lungs collapsed
Out this husk to escape where no
appointed time ticks silently

Lost

Lost

Crushed by the weight of confusion
doubt and uncertainty my mind reels
like spindles from a broken axle
Disjointed configuration of mangled
manias hurdling out of control
till restored clarity should arrive
resetting sanity
Debris strewn concourse defiles my uncharted path
broken axis running pitching me headlong
toward every ditch
Thumbing down past paradise oases that are tricks of the Sun
then heart time is paralyzed by each step closer
The undulating waving mirage before these seeking eyes
blur scant revelation
the vision concealed in shadow too deep for concentration

Thinking Back

Wondering aloud in her mind
what hath I done with all the
time?
Ere even garnered dime all spent
in disregard of winter's gloom
a mental marathon it would be
to account for contents of that
inventory
Checking over the 55 years a
arduous task
one best done with
an ominous eye for many bleak
errors may present
Though one hopes that
balance favors the good
Only an by inward observant eye
And a servant in bringing to peace that all
done or past was of some value
to all or none.
