Mother of Pearl
Oh, oyster your tight shell beckons
in a mystery of your oval pristine walls
wherein you caress nacre gel over node
liquid spreading
so slowly from nature's painting palette
becoming a delicate dot so fiercely
held between rippled ribbons of moss
colored flesh gripping the yet revealed
Oh lovely Pearl
Will it be green or palest pink?
Perhaps a silver or black one?
White a favorite only followed by
creamy gold that seems to shout to
the world "I am nature's best"
Oh lustrous oyster your gift to
mankind so simple and round
the embellishment of crowns
Oh lovely Pearl
To release you from shell will
end the life cycle of Mother Oyster whose
wave rocking cradle will stop...
Years creating
gone in an instant
You will be the legacy of time
with breathtaking beauty, a treasure
to behold from beneath the sea
a new world awaits you
Oh lovely Pearl
