My Long Lost Friend

MY LONG LOST FRIEND (NIGERIA)
By Edward Ntebri Egbelo

Just like snow you left the clouds; withering the earth with enclaves of your shadow
Memories can never escape the glimpse of your far gone character; your smiles of hope in moments of dismay
Your pedigree nature in guiding human opinions
Your strength in conquering strange battles with sanguinity and fervour

O!!! Behold thy old self; gazing at the failing mirrors
Jealousy has enclave thy mind with malevolent and odium of close friends
Where is that integrity I use to envy, that humility I use to covet, that optimism I use to hanker? All sucked up; by that quintessence of sleaze

Wake up my friend; up from thy waning slumber
The road is tapered; assuredly coarse and short
But they is surely a destination
Hope fills thy fading face; you will surely conquest over your qualms.
The dreams you beseech will surely be your climax

Your victory is not far-flung my friend; it lies in the neighbourhood
Waiting for you to grab it with complete vigour and sincerity
Haste should be far a point from grasping it
Hold tight my friend, enjoy the cool breeze of nature and acquire your birth right with integrity and honesty.

God bless you my friend
God bless Nigeria

Born In the Middle East

BORN IN THE MIDDLE EAST
By Eddie Egbelo Ntebri

Alas thy has been born; from thy dark mother’s womb
To inhale the venomous air from thy bleeding ambiances
What a conclave; concealed by dusty decisions
Dejection and pity shelters thy unpolished skin;
Leaving thee with regrets of a propelling heart
Thy nostrils filled with the breathe of human plasma
Thy ears shielded by war songs

Oh! What a derisible human nature
Fractioned by poverty and hunger
Petitioned by freedom and peace
Oblige by blood and sickness
Appraised by saboteurs and oppressors
Dictated by tyrants and impostors
Delivered by a murky womb

What kind of life awaits thee?
A life of rumble and hurricanes; surpassing the humble spirit of sleep
A life that beseech the passage of horrid times
A fountain life of crisis in melodies
A life that grips fear as the solitary courage for survival
A life that expects a bullet in every sunrise
A life of dismay and objection

Hold back thy tears from its drip
Human history surely needs to change its course
In-plant within thee the spirit of believe
Hope lies beyond the valleys
Sing songs of triumphant victories
Because thy blood will surely be thy peaceful covenant

Let's Try Hell

LET’S TRY HELL
By Edward Egbelo

I was just about to pick my bag from the dusty floor she threw it when she screamed “Eddie where are you going to”. Oh poor soul! Wish she knows the magnitude of anguish my poor heart has persevered all these years.

Of course I won’t allow my heart know more agony. It’s time to pick up the pieces and rebuild from the foundation. It has always been a lone journey afterall, with too much of turbulence and torments.

It is time to go! My heart is beating like a midnight gong. But her voice is strong and deep like an ancient vodka in a sailor's throat. My eyes are soaked, am sniveling like a 4 years old child in the middle of nowhere.

It’s time to say goodbye. Oh no I hate goodbyes! Wish there is another word. But it’s time to face the storm. The odium in my heart is just too heavy to carry. Am I going to survive this? Is she going to survive this? Only time!

As I moved pass the door I once referred as Heaven's gate, I felt so empty and ashamed of my weeping ego. Yeah am out of Heaven’s gate, let’s see what hell looks like. Maybe hell will just be a perfect place to start.

It’s 1am! Am I walking into the dark with no light to direct me to the beginning? It’s worth it! Whatever it takes, I must face the night alone. She just can’t use the night to trap me in this fairy castle.
Alas! We will all be just fine.
