Onaiza Khan Poem
From the land of god and routes of skies
Wearing the beauty of heavens, she flies
Pacing with warmth, to a baby that cries
Feeling her soft touch, I opened my eyes
“Show me your smile and wipe all tears.
I’m here to relieve you of all your fears.”
“Thanks for coming angel, I was very scared,
I cried my heart out, but nobody cared.”
The tap of her feet, the clink of her bangles, whenever I heard
Across the nettings of my cradle, I stealthily peered
Her presence made me happy, I smiled and purred
What would happen of me without her, I always feared
Thank you for being there for me on my first day
And every day which was there in my life’s array
I couldn’t thank you, or cared to, all the way
Maybe I just realised your worth and value today

Onaiza Khan Poem
Perspiring smith
stares with pride
at his newly wrought
iron bride
the device of death
his means for bread
Hung on the wall
in its scabbard
lined with gold
glittering hazard
beauty its name
fear its fame
Drawing blood
cutting veins
sharp and brutal
red with stains
wielder cheering
end nearing
Rotten red juice
dust and decay
sweating grips
death and dismay
end of a battle
her sisters rattle
Journey to home
long and dry
the iron bride
won't see the sky
a long night
till another fight

Onaiza Khan Poem
They called it the city of magic
So I came here seeking a miracle
The quiet and wet roads I found
after a rainy day quite ordinary
The mornings and the nights
had nothing special about them
The monuments and churches
were just lifeless buildings
The voices I heard in the streets
were unfamiliar
But the sense of the words
felt known and similar
I packed my bag with things
and materials I'd forever own
And started for home
With a spirit forlorn
Years later I stand here again
in this unfamiliar soil
I feel the shadow of an old me
following my every step naively
I look at her and I look at me
with shock and sharp roil
I see magic in every inch of her
And in every inch of me
Magic was probably always there
But I was lacking the ability to see

Onaiza Khan Poem
A white smudged dot on the misty sky peering onto the place where they live
the big and small ones with four legs, two legs, and the single-legged green ones
they have a myriad of motor skills and are not limited to revolving and rotating
they move in all directions and create many different sounds from their mouths
they huddle close together, they eat, they sleep, they kill, they fight, they bleed
they do so many things at once, how do they even coordinate their actions?
but the single-legged green ones and huge triangular brown ones do not move
how do they manage to stay in a single spot for millennia despite their huge size?
there are others that fly above them with wings in hundreds of shapes, colors, and sizes
the blue shaky, wavy liquidy surfaces move in themselves but not much outside
Many colored boxes of diverse sizes are constantly on the move upon wheels
there is a thick cloak of atmosphere protecting them from the wrath of the sun
but they get enough light and power to survive and go on with their daily routine
they devour the sun and the air around them but never give anything in return
why are they so many? what do they do? and why do I need to revolve round them?

Onaiza Khan Poem
Phantoms of men and their imaginings
dreams in their mind and its wanderings
reality may never touch the high sky
in which fancy desires and cravings fly
Man surrounded by fruit laden gardens,
forests, woods, waterfalls, and animals,
food, comfort and even loved ones
desires to venture into far away lands
The one on the road lonely and hungry
scorched by heat and length of the day
clutching to heart precious adventures
longs for a place that he can call home
Laboring for days at length the brawny
young men tired of hard and dirty work
envies the prince dwelling in palaces
for his luxuries and his freedom of will
While the prince stares out his window
wondering how satisfying it must be to
earn bread for themselves and families
without a care towards the state affairs
the women without beauty covet it so
and the ones that have it are fed up so
hoping to hide it somewhere in order
to find a love that's true and passionate
Old men lying in beds aspiring for youth
the ones in their prime days for boyhood
children want to go out to work and play
and be tall and strong as fast as they may
As hard to believe as it sounds but it is not
far from the truth that man may never be
satisfied with his share in life as the grass
is indeed always greener on the other side
