The Life of a Homeschooler

Dreaming through the night,
Until the sun shines bright.
Deep into sleep,
When your alarm clock makes a beep.

It's seven o'clock, time to start the day!
Get dressed, get ready, no time to play!
You've brushed your teeth, combed your hair,
Now, for school, in a comfy chair.

You head to the place where learning is done,
And soon exclaim, "Homeschooling is fun!"
Writing, reading, spelling, galore!
After history you shout, "For today, no more!"

But no, the day is not over yet!
It's time for fun you'll never forget.
Maybe you'll make a movie, or invent a game!
In a homeschooler's life, no day is the same.

Sadly, now, the day is done.
But to a homeschooler, the fun has just begun!
So my friend, show no sorrow,
Because there are many more fun things to do tomorrow!

Seasons of Gladness

Seasons come, seasons go,
even though we may wish it weren't so.
But each season has a time and place,
bringing its own beauty and grace.

The year begins with ice and snow!
But we stay warm by the fire's warm glow.
Then by the time daylight shows,
snow balls are flying, with heavy blows.

But after many months of winter's fun,
everyone wants some warmth and sun.

That is when spring arrives,
adding cheer and glee to everyone's lives.
Daffodils, daisies, what could be better!
Everyone is loving this beautiful weather.

Then along comes beautiful summer.
No one can turn away this newcomer!
Pool parties are held, picnics are enjoyed,
children race outdoors with kites to be deployed.

By now the heat is beginning to cool down.
Then fall comes and the leaves turn brown.
With crimson, yellow, orange, and red!
Pumpkin pies, apple cider, enough said!

So while we may long for the cold when its hot,
or the heat when it most definitely is not,
we should appreciate each season for its unique things
fall, summer, winter and spring!

The Fire

Blameless it dances, tame-less it prances,
as under a watchful eye it grows.

It crackles under the moonlit night,
and everywhere sparks take flight.

More sticks, more twigs, and up it goes!
As majestically it glows.

Soon enough, marshmallows are roasted,
some are just lightly toasted.

So, now, to conclude my tale,
I must say this: Fires are beautiful, fires can be a delight!
But keep watch, or they will set your yard alight!

At the End of the Rainbow

No one really knows what will be at the end
of a rainbows colorful blend.
Many may say there's gold in a pot,
But others, like me, would think not.

It could be anything, anything at all!
Maybe jewels, stacked 10 feet tall!
Or your favorite food, freshly baked,
or a garden full of flowers, newly watered and raked.

But maybe, it wouldn't be so grand.
It may just be the chance to stand
in the rainbow itself; to feel its glow,
as you stare in wonder, so now you know

take nothing for granted, even in the slightest!
But enjoy every experience at its brightest.
Though there may not be riches and gold
you now have many memories to be told!

So just remember,
That a rainbow's treasure
is nothing more than beauty at our fingertips.

Sisters

Sisters, by far, are the closest of friends.
Though, at times, their bond may need mends,
they have been together from the start.
Nothing will ever tare them apart!

Whether it be death or life,
gladness or strife,
or war or peace,
their love for one another will never cease.

The memories, the memories, endlessly they flow!
Of times good, bad, or just for them to know.
Sharing struggles, partnering in pain,
laughing, encouraging, singing in the rain.

Constantly, to each other, love they send,
for sisters, truly, are the best of friends.

A Perfect Place

Imagine a land, where worries are no more,
a perfect, beautiful world to explore.
Of evil and wickedness, there is not a trace.
How could you not want to go to such a place?

I have often longed to go, in my dreams,
but truly, it is not as hard as it seems!
Forget everything around you; shut your eyes tight.
Then simply let your imagination take flight.

Lush fields, full of daisies surround you,
Of where you are, you have not a clue.
A peace lies on it, unlike anything you've ever felt before,
you could stay here forever, and you'd never bore.

Gazing at the scenery, you then spot
a glimmering shore, decked with shells and what not.
This looks very inviting, you think at a glance.
Never would you want to miss such a chance!

You hurry to this beach, almost magical and unreal,
and soon you are brimming with zeal.
Children play in the water, beach balls they toss.
Everyone is kind and thoughtful, and no one gets cross.

Perfection outlines itself in this place, so vivid and true!
In a land such as this, how could anyone be blue?
You spend the day, going from scene to scene.
From castles to chocolate emporiums, and everything in between!

Visiting all these attractions, though peaceful and perfect they are,
Is getting a bit overwhelming; you've come quite far!
But you don't want to leave, this is something you can't miss!
It's not every day you get to experience a world such as this.

When you exit the library, you are exhausted in every way.
You want to rest, but you can't stay!
Before you lies many roads, more than you can put numbers to,
each leading in a different attraction, made to interest you.
I scanned the area, not knowing which one to choose,
then I thought what I might lose.

Suddenly, one clear image came to my brain.
There is no doubt about it, I knew which lane
was the right one for me, where I wouldn't have the urge to roam.
That one clear image was the road to go home.

With people I loved, and things I knew.
I realized, this trip has taught me a lesson or two.
Where I am in this world, is right where I need to be.
I don't need beaches or castles to be filled with glee!

Right where I am, I'm fulfilling my destiny.
I shouldn't let anything take that from me!

Music

Music is like honey to ears,
all of creation bursts forth in harmony!
The birds, even they can contribute so sweetly
to the earth's joyful, heavenly song.

Music can come in many forms,
from a woman's single, melodic voice,
to an orchestra of incredible beauty and talent.
But all types of music flow from the heart,

long or short, strong or soft,
It all begins with a spark, a flicker,
of inspiration, just to start,
then grows into a piece of indescribable melodies.

And to everyone out there, big or small,
who has the wonderful ability to create music,
you have a gift, a wonderful gift.
So treasure it, but also, use it to help others.

Comfort them, gladden them,
help those out there with whatever they need.
For your gift has been given you for a reason,
a special purpose, different for each.

Memories

Memories are like gifts that life brings along.
You must hide them away, deep in your heart,
But always bring them out, and hold them close,
When you are in deep need of comfort and love.

They can make you cry, they can make you laugh.
But if you don’t hold to them, tight and sure,
They will slip away, and be no more.
And you will have nothing to remember, no light or joy.

It is these memories, of times past
that remind us to look for the sun in our cloudy skies.
And though in front of you may be darkness and despair,
You still have those memories of gladness and glee

To be your last string of hope,
Though fraying and battered it may be,
It does not matter, for now you have the key
To the truest of happiness, and the purest of joy.

The Swan

The swan, the swan.

What a creature of grace!
Its poise, its beauty, no one can replace.

Its feathers, so pure, glowing in the light
And shimmering in the waters, under the moon of the night.

In its eyes you see a deeper element of meaning;
As it looks back at you, it's strangely seeming

As if it knows something we don't, about the spirit of nature
And if we will ever know, let's leave that to this creature.

But it leaves me to wonder, how this swan, so elegant
could be a creature of our world, so corrupt and arrogant?

Perhaps it comes from a land above, of grace and wonder,
But then, somehow, was shoved down under.

How sad for the swan, so undeserving!
To be stuck in this world, it would be so unnerving.

Or perhaps it was for love, a sacrifice it made
So hardship and suffering would quickly fade.

Whatever the swan's story may say,
Maybe now we will all look at the swan in a different way.

Time Is a Gift

Running out, passing by,
Time stays constant, yet it seems to drag or fly.
Every moment it slips away,
Until soon, there’s no time left in the day.

Much too often it’s taken for granted,
When seeds of memories should have been planted.
Many times we truly forget
The gift of time, and how little we get.

One day it will be gone, you’ll have regrets, it’s true!
Mark your mark in this world while you still get to.
You’ve been given your lot,
You don’t get another shot!
