Trick Or Treat

( TRICK OR TREAT )

Toddlers walking the streets at night,
Running from house to house.
Images of candy fill their heads,
Costumes of all kinds abound.
Knocking on strangers doors.

On their faces are smiles galore,
Ready for the next house.

Time consuming ritual,
Right down to the last minute.
Emptying out the jars of goodies,
Always to say thank you sir or ma`am.
Treasures await them when they get home.

When You Love Someone

( WHEN YOU LOVE SOMEONE )

When you love someone so deep inside,
It seems like it's so easy to hide.
You've loved him for so very long,
You would think he could do no wrong.

Every day you would hope and pray,
That he would always stay this way.
He treated you like you should be treated,
You thought your life was finally completed.

You thought your love was growing true,
And then one day it was all so blue.
He started putting you down and it hurt,
You thought all you were to him was dirt.

He started ignoring you and you wondered why,
All you wanted to do was curl up and die.
You thought your relationship would never end,
But that was all so fake and pretend.

One night he was so sweet to you,
You thought all those things were maybe untrue,
Two days later he was back the same,
You thought you were the one to blame.

He thought the relationship was getting too serious
And that you had become a little too curious.
By this time you knew it wouldn't last,
All the nice things he said were in the past.

You thought that you would marry him some day,
But this time God wanted to get his way.
You wanted things back how they were before,
But you knew this couldn't happen anymore.

It was a Saturday night about ten o'clock,
You heard the news and it wasn't a shock.
You knew this was going to happen soon,
As you laid there and cried in the pale lit moon.

Thanksgiving At Mamas

( THANKSGIVING AT MAMA`S )

When going to mama’s for Thanksgiving
Your mouth will water for miles away
It’s for eating and a time for forgiving
Before the meal hold hands and pray.

Hope there’s no long winded preacher
Anyone but him should say the prayer
Thank God for mama the teacher
Thanksgiving is such a festive affair.

When the food is passed don’t ask
Just pile it on your plate, it’s all good
Your mouth with turkey it will bask
Eat what you take, that’s understood.

The turkey is always golden brown
Dressing plenty inside moist and tasty
Mama’s love is what does it I found
Her ingredients have lots of modesty.

Lots of food at mama’s to go around
Family and friends to help celebrate
All kinds of good things to eat abound
With all the food it’s hard to concentrate.

Biscuits and gravy, yams and corn too
Leave room for mama’s pumpkin pie
Left over turkey will be used for stew
Filled no more room, only for a sigh.

If the talk of religion comes up
Everyone has their own view
Time for a drink pass me a cup
Mama has fresh tea she brew.

Besides only the church has it right
Everyone else will be going to hell
Hell and damnation a frightful sight
Miss church and mama we’ll tell.

So when your at mama’s for the night
Let’s all be thankful for a great meal
Ask God to bless mama it’s only right
What a good day, full is what I feel.

My Husband Came Up Missing

( MY HUSBAND CAME UP MISSING )

My husband came up missing, I`ve looked all over the place.
Under the couch, in the closet, theres not a single trace.
He was home when I went to work today, I heard him snoring.
My neighbor 3 blocks away, said he heard that he was exploring.

It doesnt make any sense, why would he go away.
He didnt bring any luggage with him, where would he stay.
Ive checked in the bathroom, I even looked in the shower.
I looked inside the frigerator, and underneath the flower.

My husbands got to be somewhere, his car is still at home.
I checked the bed and under the covers, I even checked his comb.
Now I`m frantic looking everywhere, he`s got to be playing tricks.
I heard a noise in the wall, so I tore down all the bricks.

Then a neighbor walked in the front door, and asked what I was doing.
I told them about my missing husband, and how I been pursuing.
They looked at me and laughed away, I felt like a tiny mouse.
They said the reason I couldnt find him, is I was in the wrong damn house.

I See So Many Faces

( I SEE SO MANY FACES )

How much would you pay for a smile today?
A few pleasant words will prepare the way.
A smile that’s unexpected will never be rejected,
A ‘Hi’ that’s quickly tossed will never be uncaught.

I see so many faces intent on going places
Without a friendly wave, in a mood that’s sadly grave.
I can tell just how you’re feeling
By the lines between your eyes,
I can see a smile beginning
Before your tears can dry.

So help someone who needs a lift
A happy face can be a gift,
Share your smile with someone blue,
That someone could be you.

Twas the Night Before Christmas

( T`WAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS )

T'was the night before Christmas
and all through the land,
there where these two children
so simply so grand.

And all through that night
they could not fall asleep,
they were both too excited,
so they got up with a leap.

They ran down the hall,
and fell down the stairs,
woke up their parents,
and said many prayers,

they went back to bed,
while the clouds fade away,
with exciting dreams
of the dear Christmas day.

Fairy Tale Lovers

( FAIRY TALE LOVERS )

Love is making my heartstrings sing
kisses are making my heart take wing.
Happiness is love,
there is nothing else so sweet,
love is happiness complete.
The whole world dances when we meet,
love is in bloom, and love is sweet.

Take my hand with a love that's true
I walk in a trance since I met you.
And I will do as poets do,
explain my dream to others,
and lift their spirits high.
It's only now my mind discovers,
that you and I are fairy-tale lovers.

Love is that ecstasy quite rare,
kisses of tenderness for two to share.
I wake in the shadows of night,
caressed by awe and wonder,
snd I see a starry sky.
My pulse, it beats like thunder.
I'll never be free of the spell I'm under.

Love is making my heartstrings sing
kisses are making my heart take wing.
I see the sunset's golden ray,
the ending of a perfect day.
God's love is everwhere,
and He welcomes you and I,
to the radiance of His night-time sky.

This Poem Really Sucks

( THIS POEM REALLY SUCKS )

Timmy ate a banana and gave jim a pet frog.
Booby looked down the street at the apple
Kim told Ronnie secrets of wise men asking questions.
When does time stand moving down.

Why does gorilla`s move standing still
Can strippers clean a pose man at night
Stop in the name of garbage.
For when its told never clap your knees.

Does old dogs tell of fables on friday
When does young lads commit food
Stuff loves never dying thrust
Keep the courage to be afraid

When God Created Heaven

( WHEN GOD CREATED HEAVEN )

When God created heaven,
and he placed those stars above.
I knew right then the star I'd choose,
would fill my life with love.

The greatest gift bestowed to me,
is the best recieved by far.
Cuz that's the day I met you Babe,
and realized that you're my star.

Now I've never been a prayin' man,
for religion I seldom sought.
But I'll give God thanks and say "Amen"
for the gift of love I got.

I can't forecast what life will hold,
but there is one thing I know.
That if we keep it watered well,
our plant of love will grow.

You will always be the brightest star,
in the heavens of my heart.
And I won't despair when dark clouds near,
for my star shines through the dark.

Mothers Glue

( MOTHERS GLUE )

I wonder how she does it, holding it together the way she does.
It seems no matter how life gets out of place she puts it back the way it was.
It's always been a mystery, but I guess it must be true.
That there is nothing stronger than a mother's love when she uses Mother's Glue.

Now Mother's Glue is not a recipe, or that sticky stuff used in art.
But it's that special love that mothers use to keep your life from falling apart.
It's the way she is always there to listen so you know that everything will be okay.
It's that special bonding hug she gives you to help you make it through the day.
It's the way she is able to touch your face and hold the tears away.
It's the way she stays up all night with you to hold the fears away.

It's the way she makes the sacrifice because she'll do anything for you.
Because she knows you just wouldn't make it if she didn't use Mother's Glue
But, if you're still not sure then ask her, and I'll bet she'll just smile at you.
Because a mother never uses words, she just uses Mother's Glue.
