My Dream Car

My dream car is known to be one of muscle,
which can quickly get up and hustle.

The year would have to be nineteen hundred and Sixty nine,
best year of Camaro to come off the production line.

Orange in color with white racing stripes that line the hood,
along with new aluminum rims would be good.

Its engine would be a three twenty seven,
bearing a Holley Carb would be heaven.

To take it out on the road for a test,
assuredly it would be the best.

I would wash and wax it night and day,
in the garage is where it would stay.

Oh how that would be the car for me,
unfortunately one I’ll never see.

An Athlete's Wish

Oh how I wish I could stay injury free,
and remain as healthy as can be.

Hopefully I possess the determination I need,
so that I can succeed.

To never give up in the midst of a fight,
when victory is just in sight.

To eat the right foods and get plenty of rest,
so that I will be the best.

To be professional both on and off the field,
what benefit good sportsmanship can yield.

To break a old record or two,
score a point, maybe even a few.

To work hard for the good of the team,
so we can all acquire the championship dream.

To hold nothing back and give my all,
so I can add another trophy to my wall.

Though I might not make the big leagues some day,
I just wish I could at least always play.

A Parent's Wish

Oh how I wish for the right words to say,
help me make a difference is what I pray.

I want to stress never giving up or giving in,
seeing as success doesn’t always mean win.

Raw talent is obviously a perk,
but there is no substitute for hard work.

Respecting others is a good thing to do,
same way you want them to treat you.

Look for the best in the people you meet,
since an unbiased heart can’t be beat.

Assuredly you will reap what you sow,
therefore compassion is a good thing to show.

Don’t be stingy but share what you got,
freely give even if it isn’t a lot.

Telling the truth is always the best route,
otherwise your sins will find you out.

Put God in the center of everything,
to receive true happiness only he can bring.

This is just a little of what I hope to instill,
for them to grasp all of this would be a thrill.

Oh how I wish I am the best parent I can be,
so the fruits of my labor I will one day see.

The Open Gate

There is a city beyond the open gate,
which is sure to be worth the wait.

To once again see loved ones we’ve lost,
will be well worth the cost.

Imagine a place without any tears or pain,
but simply eternal blessedness to obtain.

No more trials or worries of life,
nor temptations of sin and strife.

Free from all agony and defeat,
the risen savior we’ll finally meet.

All that is wrong will be right
when we see his glorious light.

What a beautiful sight to see,
when in his presence we’ll forever be.

A path so narrow that it is hard to find,
unfortunatly many will be left behind.

All my earthly treasures I’ll freely give,
in exchange for an eternal life to live.

I’ll live each day as if it is my last,
until my time on earth has past.

Hopefully those who knew me will be there,
for his word I tried to always share.

To be home at last will be great,
when someday I walk through that open gate.

A Dog's Wish

How I wish my owner wouldn’t kick me,
it’s not my fault I have to pee.

He only takes me out once a day,
otherwise in a dark room is where I stay.

He often forgets to set out food,
especially when he’s in a bad mood.

He seldom pats me on the head,
or lets me sleep in his bed.

To run and play would be great,
or at least have a mate.

Just to sniff a few trees,
and get over my plague of fleas.

I used to enjoy a special treat,
as well as walks down the street.

I admit life isn’t what it used to be,
I just wish my owner would take care of me.

Bottom of the Ninth

Bottom of the ninth and we’re down
by two, let’s just see what our team can do.

Here we go ladies and gentlemen,
can our team comeback and win.

Our leadoff batter is up at the plate,
I must say he has been hitting great.

He’s got the sign and here's the pitch,
it’s thrown down in the ditch.

So we have one ball and no strikes,
low and away is what he likes.

Here’s pitch number two,
what will the anxious batter do.

He swings his mighty bat,
deep to centerfield is where it’s at.

Quickly he rounds first base,
while to the ball the fielder does race.

Safely at third our guy does rest,
now all we can do is hope for the best.

Trying to control the quivers,
he winds up and delivers.

His sinker dropped like lead,
but is popped over the shortstop’s head.

The hitter arrives safely at first,
now here is a batter well versed.

So we see a fastball is thrown,
a big mistake he should have known.

The ball is up and going deep,
possibly a souvenir for someone to keep.

It is way back and out of here,
every fan begins to cheer.

Our team went on the attack,
and despite the odds have came back.

Looks like the game is done,
for in the bottom of the ninth we won.

A Child's Wish

Oh how I wish summer would last forever,
therefore the end of our vacation would be never.

Each and every bright sunny day,
the great outdoors is where we would play.

It need not be humid and hot,
otherwise I tend to sweat a lot.

Forgetting about a thing called school,
as I soak endlessly in our pool.

Every hour consist of nonstop fun,
plenty of time to ride my bike or just run.

After spending some time at the park,
maybe catch s few fireflies in the dark.

Then host a sleepover every single night,
and all my friends I unquestionably invite.

Watching movies and staying up late,
with snacks to make it great.

Unfortunately school will inevitably start,
thus causing my freedom to depart.

Eventually I must grow up and be a man,
but I’ll be a kid as long as I can.

Gone Are the Days

Gone are the days of poodle skirts and bobbie socks,
classic cars and music that rocks.

The Ed Sullivan show and Elvis Presley’s gyrating hips,
guys racing their cars for pink slips.

No more drive-in theaters or soda shops,
forty-fives or school sock hops.

Penny Loafers or slicked back hair,
gas prices that are fair.

No more Howdy Doody time or black and white TV,
The Milton Berle Show or I Love Lucy.

Full service stations or diner girls on roller skates,
families cruising down route 66 to see the states.

An era when schools were safe and crime was low,
some of the best times one could ever know.

However time and technology has since moved on,
oh what a shame those days are gone.

A Wife's Wish

Oh How I wish he would clean up his mess,
so for once I could do less.

He leaves his clothes all over the floor,
forgets to shut his underwear drawer.

He drinks milk straight from the jug,
tracks mud all over the new rug

A new roll of toilet paper in the old one’s place,
I usually have to replace.

Dinner will take an hour to prepare,
yet he devours it as if he don’t care.

Then after dinner he simply walks away,
and in his chair is where he’ll lay.

But the thing for which he is renown,
is never putting the toilet seat down.

There’s not much I ask him to do,
just his manly duties which are very few.

Take out trash and mow the grass,
car repairs and pump the gas.

There are times he makes me so mad,
but he is a great husband and dad.

Hold On For Dear Life

(Based on Genesis 32:24-30)

There will be times when your feel overcome by heartache and strife,
clearly that is when you must hold on for dear life.

All of your doubts and fears you have to learn to deny,
thus upon God’s promises you need to fully rely.

Jacob the son of Isaac was in dire need of a blessing one day,
for renewed peace with his brother he did pray.

He wrestled with a man all throughout the moon lit night,
hoping somehow all that was wrong would be made right.

The angel suddenly realized that his match he had not won,
something to discourage his untiring opponent must be done.

He touched the hollow of Jacob’s thigh putting it out of joint,
which would seem to be the ending point.

Although Jacob felt immense pain and was getting weak,
he continued wrestling for a blessing he did seek.

Due to Jacob’s unshakable faith that did not fail,
he was able to overcome the odds and prevail.

The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much,
as long as with God we keep in touch.

You can be victorious over all your heartache and strife,
if you will just hold on for dear life.
