Unburden

Unburden my life of desolation
the weight on my shoulders too heavy.
Can somebody please lighten my load
I am clearly needy and ready.

All my life never asked a soul
To really help me out
I got by inch by inch
by being gracious with no shout

There is a point when somebody breaks
no human is made of steel.
I've held in all my pain
More years than i can heal

when will there be a chapter
in this play i've been
That doesn't involve massive damage
Where i can just sit and grin.

I cant wait any longer
My life that was taken away
need to begin.

Bukowski Contest

Several times, too many to count
I was suffering or bored and pulled his books out.
I'd open one up to a random page
Begin to read and wave some green sage .

His words would clear all of my pain
Funny or wild and deeply insane .
They had a way of making me smile
Which no other anecdote worked meanwhile.

In poetry classes that I took at night
In Hollywood where the lights shown so bright.
I used one of his poems as my homework
The class would go crazy, acting bezerk.

His simple everyday themes splashed on the page
Easy to understand no matter your age.
Told stories that could lull you to sleep
When a period would end it was silent, no peep.

So it's safe for me to say that Bukowski rocks!
A modern day poet with outlandish plots
Never a dull poem I've read
I've always kept his books next to my bed.

A Slice of Heaven

I sit , look around
Only water to be found
The white clean sand
Falls like an hourglass in my hand.

Feeling so far away
Lost at shore, held at bay
Laying flat under the sun
Island living is pure fun.

A tropical oasis sitting sole
Escaping into a fishbowl
Waves lapping onto shore
Never lonely, feeling whole.

An island is by far
A place to love, leaves no scars
A precious piece of land
You have to go to understand.

Los Angeles

Living in the city of lights
One among many Angels in flight
Souls that connect, artists we are

Always a place to converse with a star
Never boring or lonely because
Gravity pulls us together with buzz
Everything moving in fast pace
Life is simply a beautiful race
Engraved in my heart this city I love
Sunshine and diamonds and friends in my land.

A land of beauty art and aspirations
The most exciting place to take vacations.

Spark

There is goes one more time
The spark that ignites when I'm in her mind
The fire that glows either way
if angry if happy on any day.

The passion that surrounds us
wherever we are
plays tricks on my body
push pull we evolve.

Your too near, your too far
Its hard to wrap around
my head all these thoughts
pounding hard with grand sounds.

sticky notes placed
in areas that I know
she will find when we fight
" I love you, you glow"

Masking emotions so my wall
that I"ve built.
Won't come crumbling down
Then I feel so much guilt.

Your too much for my heart
too handle at times
Songs play in my head
etching loving designs.

the bottom line that
results from our bond
that's so strong, stands
as foundation together we belong.

Brian Andreas : Artist

April 9th, 2014

He calls his work "Storypeople"
His words his art and all.
I've bought so many paintings
They are hanging on my walls.

The beauty that each story tells
puts my mind at ease.
Each poem has an illustration
They come to life as you sit and read.

He can turn a slice of a conversation
into a work of art.
I marvel at the way he touches
everybody's heart.

Some of them can make you laugh
so hard that you could cry
Then you read another
and gently sit back and sigh.

So so many masterpieces
to choose for any occasion
You'll always find the perfect one
to give, releasing all frustration.

Books filled with all of his work
you can buy to read each day.
I turn to a page randomly
Leaving me with a smile to light my way.

Weatherbound

Curiousity hovers in the air
Peeking out of their cozy lair.
Just close enough for them to touch
The snow that falls in wanderlust.

Snug together they share the light
Which brightens faces with delight.
Reaching out to touch a flake
Harmony takes away all aches.

Of the bitter cold that envelops them
Night time closes, all is dim.
Time stands still without a sound
Feeling lost yet somehow found.

The fur of their dog surrounds them
Caught outside its sink or swim
Yet hand and hand they laugh and play
Under the snowy sky and stay.

Necessity

Three necessities
Hope, Faith and love within you
Hold on to them tight
Believe they will guide your path
You have to believe in something.

My Gratitude

A simple thanks for the special day
From my heart which wants to say
You welcomed me into your crew
Much gratitude when i was new.

You gave me a place to ease the pain
On days when hurting and pouring rain.
Then times when i was happy in love
I could write and write and fly like a dove.

There is no judgement in this family
The only home where i roam free.
I spill my thoughts and free my mind
Much thanks my favorite Valentine's.

Raw

Started off a beautiful night
all dressed up and off to dance
laughing talking drinking wine
wearing my favorite pink pants.

Im not sure when it hit me
but i suddenly felt alone
beautiful people everywhere
everyone in their zone.

i was yearning for conversation
or some sort of sense of home
nobody cared to talk for real
i felt the need to roam

with nowhere else to go
drunk to the point of falling
i became very introspective
my heart felt sad and calling.

usually my nights out with friends
ended in bliss
happy happy happy
everyone a kiss.

tough times had been brewing
my mind just could not breathe
dancing and drinking
Didn't do it for me so i leave.

Got home and tears were falling
feeling insecure and lost
looking in the mirror
i saw a girl with such exhaust.

looking at my phone
with no inhibitions
i dialed a friend
who understood my sad conditions.

i looked a mess and felt the same
yet didn't care that night
usually id make sure i was
done and up and feeling right.

I listened to my heart
and took a chance and called.
I thought he'd be working
but he answered and i bawled.

it was foggy after that
not sure exactly what i said.
but as quickly as I hung up
He was out front like my bed.

I stumbled out bottle in hand
Jumped into his truck
he looked at me didn't say a word
and then i felt some luck.

He helped me into his house
and put me in the shower
he stayed in there while I bathed
Feeling so empowered.

hair all wet makeup gone
I stepped out into his towel
he wrapped me in dried me off
but wasn't on the prowl.

He held me close and looked at me
Eye to Eye and said
"This is when your the most beautiful"
Then carried me to bed.

A man of few words
but when he spoke i listened.
And that night as he told me that
my whole body started to glisten.

That comment has stayed with me
like no other I've ever heard
Whenever I feel sad or down
I image the night it occurred.
