I Dodged a Bullet

I DODGED A BULLET

I dodged a bullet two weeks ago
In that shopping mall
A bullet, caramel skinned; moisturized
That almost left a sister’s chest
Spurting red spots everywhere

I dodged this fine looking bullet
That went three sixty degrees
Around my waistline
I sang praises, I almost rocked that Mic
Check check

I dodged a bullet…
Yes! I dodged a fine one
Six feet two inches; got me high
Fine smelling cologne, I took a whiff
Six packs front layered;
I scrolled through, page after page
In my fantasy
Oh my!

I dodged it sister; yes I dodged a bullet in hours
It challenged my hormones
They militated against my sense of reasoning
I gave a silent scream for help
My eyes coated in surprise
My hands, still…
My prize, a bullet?

That bullet almost shot through me
Between Africa and Jamaica
It's warmth sent me down that sofa
Attention! my twin babies saluted

That voice, those eyes
A combination of soul and jazz soothing the soul
Soft and inviting, tempting;
Sent shivers down my spine
They slung a leash around me
But I had to dodge that bullet
On the last five days before New Year's Eve

I Don'T Envy You

I don't envy you

I don't envy you sister
I don't envy the fact that your eyes are too bright, painted with colors of the rainbow
How your lips look like they are smeared in a pot of warm blood
How your face look like a pot of brown earth plastered on a wall
How your fingers wear vulture claws; your toes too
How your gait erotically draw lustful souls into your coven of shameless fantasies

I don't envy you

Not at all dear friend
When you kept crooning about a yet to be found lover
How you brought a picture of your perfect man snatched from your minds' wall
How you swore to wring him around your body until he puts a ring around your finger
How your spell of deceitfulness brought home your shame unsavory
How that wicked craving of yours sent away all that meant well

I don't envy you

I don't envy your constant nagging; your definite raging
Your late nights and early morning shrieks of bitterness
Not even your legal tender that seems to diminish at hours tick
Not to mention your headlamps that have lost its bulbs
Your speedometer that stopped functioning
Your thermometer that has drastically gone up

I don't envy your madness
Yours sadness
Your reddened eyes
Your blackened heart
Your blue and gloomy sky
Your sunset
You in your closet
Your stiffened body
Your silent words
The wide road you chose
Your gnashing of teeth

I don't envy you
I don't envy anything about you.

At Shore

Ash mist spreads like warm blanket
across the sky;
The grey jagged mountain fades;
silence crept to rest.

Perfect

Breathe i on you

You breathe on i

We, on parallel lines

Our gaze on these thighs

Behind you see i orange lining

Before i see you silver, sparkling

Outstretched arms reaches for mine

Mine stretches forth gracefully before count nine

Perfect you

Perfect i

Bound by this love we share

You and I

Two steps forward, two more forward

Eyes locked, keys thrown backward

Sweet melody envelopes two pairs of ears

Yes, enraptured in memorable years

My symphony, yours to cherish

Your symphony, mine to relish

Our smiles run across borders

A crime? Hmm, who longer bothers?

Perfect i

perfect you

Bound by these words we share

I and You

My feet expresses this dance

Your feet enjoying my melodic prance

Away to a fountain of fanciful joy

Oh how breathtaking, this i do employ

Your words drip on me, softly, soft

I rest on assurance, standing on this loft

My eyes your perfect looking glass

Your eyes make me smile, this has come to pass

Perfect you

Perfect i

Bound by this music we sing

You and I

Oh, now it doesn't matter

Though their words scatter

Our visions bound by one

Gossips are handing us none

Reach i for your lips

You reach for my kiss

Our embrace interlocked in a golden sphere

A glittering circle, i see so clear

Perfect... you

Perfect... i

Bound by these vows

You and I

THOUGHTS OF A POETESS

She Found Love

Under this tree she finds love

In this love, she finds hate

Whilst in hate,

Along creeps in fate

Hand-in-hand with fate,

Love begins to lose taste

Slips gently again into hate,

Love spreads its' wings too late

Across the fine lines of her face,

Bitterness draws more lines without space

More lines of distrust, hate,

An unwanted race with fate

Swiftly swooped away to look up,

She takes a quick gulp

Her smiles mixes with uncertainties,

Heaven smiles back with pity

Fate pulls away hate,

Love melts on her heart

She slips back under the tree,

Where she found love.
