American Psychosis

“american psychosis”

on the road,
the dream
begins.....
the sun is burning
a fever in the sky
upon the endless serpent
a serial killers life
diseased upon the road
into the darkness
i fly.....

this is where it
all
comes together
the pure
release
of freedom's
forgetfulness.....

i twist the throttle
speed is time
time is speed
as the sun is setting
i feel the need
in the night
the shadowed coolness
neon eyes reflecting
what the day
never will see,
the american night
where our dreams
born
from valleys
to where earth
touches sky
what is
true......
early morning
in the industry
factory
where even the sun
bleary
black and white
day to day
is beyond me,
i could not be slaved,
i gas
chain smoke
sugar fix
and the road
calls
sirenly.....
every mile
a day
studied
at 80 miles per hour
then just as the past
left behind
on the side....
under a bridge
the assassin of youth
stalks
as we laugh
and curse the sun
for we can knowing
it is not death
to fear
but life.

3 days on the road......

Fine Indigo Soup

the night
promised
more than dreams
my eyes
closed
seeing stars
as they are
wildly thrown
perfection
knowing
i would be
here
this table
destined
the sky is
fine indigo soup
steaming overhead
and
god is
the server.

Two Dogs

“two dogs”

i got two dogs
but they wont run
jus lay round
done had their fun,
so i jus sit and wait
for they are my friends so great,

one dog his name is blue
quick as the wind he can flew,
the other dog is jus plain jack
runs all day at night he comes back,

momma says me and dogs outside
else she'll tan our sorry hide
so we jus sit and wait
cause momma's cookin is always great...
got two dogs but they wont run
jus lay round
they had their fun.

Bebop

man
like it was
cool
like an ice box
left open
in the heat
as the jazz
oozed
out in
statico beats
of non-conformity
to the jive
laid down
by the suits
that live in black an white
laced straight
world
without soul
or
knowing
of the flamboyant
dreams
billowed by the wind
of night.

Sassafras

“sassafras”

it was cool
deep
in the wood
where
only purity
existed
barely naked
running
down paths
of wild thoughts
lost
in shadows
the sun
never sees...
at dusk
we drank
sassafras
delved
into dreams
sleeping
as the stars
watched.

A Fight

i was walkin thru a graveyard
it was late at night
there was no moon shining
only the shadow's light,

on the ground the mist was growing
as a shroud about my feet
the wind was softly moaning
the dead a lullaby so sweet,

i hid behind a headstone
so that i might see
the spirits rise and dance
in their hellish jubilee,

there as the dead were dancing
just at the midnight toll
i felt satan's cold hands
trying to steal my soul,

we wrestled and fought
for nearly five hours
i dont know where i got the strength
maybe i fought with god's powers,

but satan would not tire
his crowd cheered him on
i thought i was a goner
when he began to use his charm,

he tempted me with riches
things beyond my wildest dreams
all the while he was soft spoken
but heard above his demons screams,

i faltered and was near his
the terror that was on me
i had no will to live
for what could hope be,

and just as he thought sure
a cock did crow
everything just disappeared
with the sun's first glow,

i stood alone in the dawn
wondering if it was just me
still i thanked the lord
for his help in keeping me free.

Tin Man

the brutal echoes resound within
of being the way i am
not softly, but as a din
of all that i cannot understand,

i have rusted and stayed
without thought of movement
how from the path i have strayed
so far from any soothant,

for when i was made
my maker forgot a part
that where love cannot fade
so i search for my heart........

Did You Ever Want To Go Home, But Didnt Have One

all my life
is spent
chasing dreams
not greed
something more
i was born with
never forgotten
always
a persuasion
that cannot be
ignored,
here
on page countless
upon my flesh
the mark
the scar
of living
wishing on the stars
knowing
one day the truth
will show
all i asked
sought
and why i
suffered so.

Ahab

does the white whale call you
as it does to myself
silent at first but true
till in your soul it's wealth,

my life is a fervent chase
across the understanding of god
there to that empty space
where the tangles of sin are shod,

i plunged my desire burning
into flesh to the bone
all while death is yearning
holding open the gate to home,

so that there is only the need
to own,to destroy and then
the desire of the greed
that will rise again.

Socrates Confused

“socrates confused”

it was a banana peeled
left careless and reckless
causing a moment to stumble
then eventually fall
upon the neon dream
of what is and is not,
to the floor of the sky
where beluga whales swam
then lose themselves
under waves of thought
to the shore crashing
where Dali drew
in hour glass sands.....
