Be Yourself

Don't try to be me
and I won't try to be you
there is only one of me
and there is only one of you

Don't go around pretending to be
somebody that you are not
the real you is who you should
let people see
and not what you've got

You don't need to put on a false identity
trying to look and act like a celebrity
you are who you are with your own personality
that's the way it so just deal with reality

Looking up to someone is nothing wrong
but when you try to become that someone
that's where you don't belong
just be yourself and play it cool
why pretend and make yourself look like a fool?

I won't try to be you
so don't try to be me
if others can't accept they way you are
then just let them be

A True Champion

It's not always about winning first place
What really counts is that you challenged the race
A true champion can bravely accept defeat
Still feeling good about himself though he got beat

The important thing is that you gave it your best
Keep a smile on your face and forget about the rest
Through it all, always maintain your self esteem
You're not a loser just because you didn't make the team

It doesn't matter if you are falling way behind
You're still a winner when you cross the finish line
It's your courage and determination that sets yo apart
Your chances may be small but you've got a big heart

In life don't let your failures bring you down
Have the will to get up when you hit the ground
Through life's journey many trials will come your way
But believe in yourself and victory will be yours someday

The Path I Chose

'I have seen what the world has to offer and have indulged in its many guilty pleasures. I have enjoyed myself immensely but the end thereof was as bitter as gall.'

Through self righteous eyes I thought my ways were right
Pursuing after vanities and all that gave my heart delight
The path I chose was pleasing in my sight
Like a nocturnal creature I ventured into the night

My wicked ways I did not want prying eyes to see
I never stopped to think what the consequences
of my actions would be
Now that I've had my fill of it all
What has it profited me?
Without warning came my sudden downfall

I toiled without relent to do iniquity
Seeking after worldly pleasures and
chasing after vanity
Who was there to stand with me
When I fell in the pit of calamity?
Was I not surrounded by many friends
When I was thriving in prosperity?
But a fool I was not to accept correction
When warned about my stupidity
My stubborn heart only led to disaster
And I learned a lesson in humility

Everything was meaningless and all in vain
I gave into the world when there was nothing to gain
The work of my hands brought upon me
guilt, regret and shame
After all that's said and done I only have myself to blame

A Woman Complete

How can I put into words how much you mean to me
You encompass everything that a woman should be
From the top of your head, down to the soles
of your feet;
You are perfectly made, you are a woman complete

Everything about you is for real and genuine
A feeling of pride fills me to say that you
are mine;
Your flawless beauty my eyes hunger to behold
It's more precious than silver, it's worth more
than gold

Your love fills my heart, thoughts of you occupy
my mind;
Nowhere on earth another like you I will
ever find
Humble and modest as you maybe
You are still of the highest quality
You are my queen, deserving to be
treated like royalty

I am amazed by your gentle style
and charming grace
That lovely smile is never absent from
your pretty face
My admiration goes beyond what I can see
Yes...you are everything that a woman should be

My Better Half

You are the anchor that holds me in place
Without you my life would be just an empty space
You are my strength when I grow weak
Inspiration I draw from comforting words you speak

I find solace in your arms when I want to cry
When I'm feeling down, you lift my spirits up high
When I'm troubled, you have a listening ear
I turn to you because I know you will hear

In my darkest days you always look on the bright side
You see right through me, there's nothing I can hide
Your warm hugs and kisses lets me know it will be all right
That makes me want to love you more with all my might

A day without you would be a day not worth living
I write this poem as a token of my love and thanksgiving
Howe blessed I am to have someone as wonderful as you
In every way, you are all my dreams come true

Dare To Dream

Set your goals way up high
Shoot for the stars
Aim for the sky
Great things you can achieve
When you try
Never lose hope
Never let your dreams die

When others try to bring you down
Wear a smile and never a frown
Perseverance will win you your crown
Respect will get you around

Never succumb to the sting of defeat
When you stumble and fall
Get back on your feet
In the face of adversity never retreat
Keep your goals in sight
Till your mission is complete

Believe in yourself and the rest
will fall into place;
No need to rush
You're not in a race
Do one thing at a time
At your own pace
Your destiny awaits you
Victory is yours to embrace

Hidden Feelings

I'm trying really hard not to fall in love with you
For I Know my heart will only be broken in two
Why fool myself knowing that you and I will never be
Someone like you would never be interested in someone like me

There are times I want to tell you how I truly feel
For so long these hidden emotions I've wanted to reveal
I hold you close to my heart as a very special friend
And I'm afraid if you know the truth our friendship will end

I'm struggling with my feelings to keep them under control
Not being to tell you pierces deep into my soul
I wish so badly that I could express my love for you
But I'm in a state of confusion, not knowing what to do

Maybe someday I will find the courage to finally confess
Pour out my heart to you so that it may be at rest
No matter what happens, I want you to know
I will love you still whether your answer is yes or no

The Way You Are

When you look in the mirror
what do you see?
Is the person whose looking back
The person you want to be?

Maybe you wish you were a bit taller
maybe you wish your ears were smaller
perhaps you would like to change your nose
have better feet and nicer toes

Maybe you wish you had a more attractive face
wider hips and a thinner waist
maybe you would like a broader chest
a flatter tummy and bigger breast

Many things about your body
you could complain about
you are unhappy with they way
you turned out

The way you look to others
might cause you to feel rejected
all you want is to fit in, be loved and accepted

If that's they way you were made
then what can you do?
First you have to start loving yourself
and then others will start loving you.

Everyday People

I see people go about their day to day routine
Some with a smile on their faces
Others looking rather mean
Children hurrying off to school
to make it on time
Fathers set of to work to make
that hard earned dime
Mothers are busy with the laundry
Then its off to make the afternoon meal
So much to do in so little time
Not a moments break to steal

Doctors keep busy trying to save people's lives
Priests making young couples into husband and wives
Police officers trying to keep criminals
off the street
Lawyers defending them out of the hot seat
Teachers keep busy at the blackboard
empowering young, ambitious minds
Nurses caring for the sick
Soldiers defending the borderline

Everyday people going about their
routine day after day
In this busy world everyone has a role to paly

Different But Still the Same

You're no better than me
and I'm no better than you
Despite our many differences
we still amount to the same value

My eyes are brown
yours maybe blue
my skin is dark
but I'm still human too

I have my faults
and so do you
neither of us is perfect
isn't that true?

You have feelings
and so do I
when they get hurt
don't we sometimes cry?

You can have a fancy house,
fancy clothes and a fancy car
but material wealth doesn't
define the person you are

Some people think very highly of themselves
but beneath that outward shell
they are no better than anybody else
